Description
Our story originates from the dreams of a German immigrant and his passion for beer. Otto Bemberg, who arrived in our country in 1852, founded the Cervecería Argentina in the city of Quilmes in 1888. After two years, on October 31, 1890, the first chopp was served and from there the iconic beer began to be sold under the Quilmes brand, in honor of the old indigenous name of the town, where this dream materialized. These would be just the first steps of a project that, over time, would become one of the main companies in Argentina. During the years to come, the company grew exponentially, in 1910 it reached 100% beer production.
In 2002 we sealed the strategic association with AmBev and in 2006 we finalized the transfer of our majority shareholding package. We are currently part of AB-InBev, the world's leading brewing company, based in Leuven, Belgium, with a portfolio of more than 200 brands.

Old rating from March 2019 (which was 2nd time I'd had this after having a 330ml bottle at home in 2010) - this time I was in a Argentinian restaurant in Bermondsey, London. Pours amber with a white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of citrus, lemon & sweet malt. Medium body. Light bitter finish. Decent Macro lager, more than drinkable if nothing else available.

Curious to try this one after seeing the sponsoring in River Plate jersey for ages. Pretty forgettable with a cereal taste and a thin body.

Draft in Arg. A bit sweet. Not really a bock. Just a dark latin american beer. I switched back to regular Quilmes right after, if that’s any indication.

Somewhere it is written that every country must have a weak pale lager/int’l pilsner. This is Argentina’s.

I found a 340 ml bottle at a Houston Total Wine a month or so back. Another high production beer I assume. Time to try it out. I’m drinking out of the bottle this time just feel like it. A classic beer smell, no surprise. The drink has grain with perhaps corn slightly standing out, water and a very small sweetness. Not challenging, I didn’t expect it to be. But not bad either. It is a pleasant beer to drink on the patio during a nice early summer afternoon.
