Description
In 1981, Peter Mauldon, the great grandson of Anna Maria decided to re-establish the family tradition and start a brewery in Sudbury once again. Peter had been too young to be involved in the original family business and had previously pursued a career with Messrs. Watney where he progressed to Head Brewer at the company’s large Mortlake Brewery.

Many thanks for this Bitter Ale to Jacek Wigier (wineofdreams@gmail.com) Piwo slabe no poza ladna etykieta w stylu mrocznym nic się tu nie dzieje, goryczka jak na bitter umiarkowana, pecherzykowa drobna malenka piana miedziana barwa, w aromacie jakies sztuczne olejki dodawane do ciast, w smaku jak tran lub inny tłuszcz rybi, z jakims lawendowym posmakiem. Mi to nie pasowalo wogole.

18/9/2020. Cask at the Duke of York, Ipswich. Attractive beer, clear darkish gold with a bubbly white head, leaving nice lacing down the side of the Mauldons branded glass. Aroma is fresh, hoppy, citrusy and floral, with a touch of biscuit. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Moderate body, average carbonation. Sweeter fruity finish. Pretty decent brew.

Cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton Pours almost black witht a small cream head. Nose has a vague aroma of milk and malts. In the mouth the texture is creamy with flavour dominated by chocolate and roast malts with some dark fruits and hints of liquorice. Finish is sweet and fruity. Nice enough but not very “stouty” – I thought it was a mild until I looked at previous reviews !

Ty Grumbo. Aroma and flavor are sweet, malty, hoppy, dry, black tea, some caramel, fruits, sugar. Finish is dry. Carbonation is high. Wish I could try real ale version of this! Good. 3.6

Ty Grumbo. Aroma and flavor are roasty, malty, chocolate-y with some berry notes. The berries feel bit extracty or tea like, but nowhere near omnipollo level. Finish has some nice dry bitterness with blackberry leaves. Ok. 3.4
