Description
6 Bears & a Goat Brewing Co., LLC (6B&G) is named after its founders (and the mascots of their respective military services). The six Bears are 20-year retirees from the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Goat is a retiree from the U.S. Navy. Collectively, the 6 Bears & a Goat have served their country for over 140 years. While we are very serious about brewing beer, we want to have fun doing it, and our name is indicative of that…it is also indicative of the good-natured rivalry between the Navy and our Nation’s oldest continuous seagoing service, the United States Coast Guard.

Draft: Poured a deep black with a light brown head. Aroma is chocolate, malty, roasty, light coffee. Taste is rich roasted malts, chocolate, I thought coffee but molasses might be closer in the flavor, dry finish.

Mostly clear, but ever so slightly hazy deep copper coloured body with a faint amber glow, with a ton of visible effervescence and a nice three centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of pure oranges, light grass, a ton of curacao, some caster sugar, but a dash of resin and bunches of fresh full oranges - nice! Medium-bodied; Fairly strong biscuity and slightly grainy malt flavours show at first that puts off a rustic and funky flavour, but soon afterwards, some floral, perfumey and slightly resinous hop notes come out that seemingly end with more of the curacao and candied notes than any from full oranges. Aftertaste is slightly bittereed with the light cardboardie malt notes showing just as strong, but the candy and sweet caster sugar flavours are somehow stronger - making for a funky finish. Overall, the nose and look started very strong on this one, but faded quite fast in favor of some funky notes with a lot of sweetness and odd malts. Decent to try, but passable for almost everyone, I'm never going to get it again! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 29-April-2023 for US$4,49, canned on 17-February-2022 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 04-June-2023.

Super clear golden coloured body with a very large pure white head, about 3 to four centimetres tall that stays afloat nicely. Aroma of crisp grain, lemons, earth, flowers, tea (chamomile) and a touch of pure caster sugar as well, all very smooth smelling. Light-bodied; Strong grassy and very herbal flavour at first with a big lemon and citrus fruit bite right afterwards that brings out some strong notes and ends with a lot (for the style) of pure sweetness from caster sugar. Aftertaste shows a surprising amount of flavour for such a smooth and easy-drinking beer with a light profile, but the yeast, grain and citrus notes are by far the strongest here. Overall, a dry and grassy flavour with some light sweetness, a complexity from herbs and tea all with a noticeable citrus bite throughout. Not a bad beer and a light beer with a good crisp flavour that wouldn't be bad during the summer! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Giant Food in Alexandria (Potomac Yard) on 02-October-2020 6or US$1,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 07-December-2020
