Cask at Hamilton Hall, JDW, London. Pours clear, dark amber with a foamy, tan head. Leathery fruits on the nose, suggestions of burnt leaves. Light to medium sweet flavor with more dry, leathery fruits, berries, earthy and leafy bitterness, some toasty brown bread. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Dirty, earthy bitter finish, more dried fruits, purple grape skins, berries. Decent offering.

Cask (handpump) @ Allied Arms, 57 St. Marys Butts, Reading, Berkshire, England RG1 2LG.Clear medium to light amber colour with virtually no head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - caramel, tea, light to moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, tea. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20120502]

Bottle from Stirchley Wines and Spirits. Reddish brown pour with a thin broken tan head. Weak malty, slightly metallic aroma. The flavour is bitter, malty and sticks to the palate. Some bitterness hangs around for quite a while. A most agreeable ale.

Bottle shared from John. Pours clear reddish brown with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, dark fruits, and nuts. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle from Stirchley Wines and Spirits, Birmingham. Weak, but slightly fruity aroma. The flavour is very strong bitter, malty with a hint of honey. The first mouthful was a shock. A flavour explosion I guess, but it rapidly grew on me.

Cask at Bree Louise with Sarah. Pours a clear amber orange with a near white head that dissipates slightly to the edges. Aroma has notes of biscuit and sweet grains with a bit of underlying popcorn. Flavor stars with some deep bread and hay with some underlying popcorn.

Cask at Bree Louise with Sarah. Pours a clear golden amber with a tan head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has notes of biscuit and sweet grains with not much of a hop character. Flavor starts with light grain and bread up front with a bit of biscuit. Smooth finish.
