Cask at Merton Summer Festival July 2005. Cannot understand how I never got around to rating this before. Lovely golden colour, wonderful hoppy aroma taste is smooth but quite refreshing with hops again dominating citrusy flavours also present a very decent summer beer.

Cask Conditioned at Banbury Beer Festival Fri 21-04-06. A warm golden coloured beer that gave off a slightly sweet aroma. I didn’t think this particularly wheaty or particularly impressive for that matter, there were certainly some hops and sweetness present throughout and it was absolutely fine but I expected a little bit more from Loddon.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm) Colour is amber to copper. Nose is fruity, flowery with hints of wild berries. Taste is malty, fruity with a short, rather metallic, bitter finish. Not exciting, but nice and refreshing.

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Bronze colour. Aroma of hay and fruit. Sweet and dusty with medium body. A healthy amount of hops is there, but the hop frofile is odd. Lingering resiny bitter finish.

(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Colour is pale amber, almost no head. Nose is rather fruity, malty and sweet with hints of oranges (or mandarines) and biscuits. Taste is fruity (apricots) with some alcohol driven sweetness. Drier and more hops towards the finish. Somewhat oily body. An ok english style IPA, but I woudn’t call it highly hopped, it wouldn’t suffer from some more bitterness to balance the sweetness.

[Cask at GBBF 2005] An orange-brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel as well as light notes of roasted malt and sulphur. The flavor is sweet combined with a slight sourness - the low ABV definately helps in not making it sweeter - and with primary notes of caramel, leading to a dry end.

[Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm] A hazy orange beer with a nice lazing white head. The aroma is whety combined with notes of lemon and oranges. The flavor is very wheaty combined with notes of lemon, and with a dry wheaty end. Served at 12 degrees Centigrade as a cask should - but I personally don’t like warm wheat beers - so I don’t understand the concept of cask conditioned wheat beers.

Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW Ashford. Russet colour with lasting beige tight head. Orchard fruit and toffee on nose and slightly acidic in mouth with more orchard fruit. Some toasty malts which give a hint of sweetness too. Not bad. Needs a bit more body for an autumn beer.
