Bottle via the OGV. It pours jet black with a decent tan cap. The aroma is rich roasted malt, toasty, bitter - sweet, chocolate, coffee grounds, light ashy vibes and maltesers. The taste is initially dry and toasty, bitter - sweet character, rich roasted malt, coffee grounds, cocoa nibs, powdered chocolate, some umami, liquorice, peppery spice and woodsy character with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. All comes together rather well. Better body that I had expected. I imagine this would taste good on cask.

330ml bottle at home. It pours clear golden - amber with a fluffy white head. The aroma is spicy, grassy, nutty, floral accents, biscuit and grain. The taste is pleasantly crisp, dry, snappy, some decent bitterness, grassy, herbal almost, floral, some spice in there, touch of biscuit and cereal with a firmly dry finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Surprised me this one. Nice and crisp with good body. A solid lagerbier.

Bottle from Hop Shop Aberdeen. It pours hazy copper with a frothy off-white cap. The aroma is sticky, oily, resinous, peach, orange marmalade sandwiches, Irn Bru, sweetness and baked goods. The taste is dry, bitter, resinous, rawness, pine, sticky, oily, tangy marmalade, earth, varnished wood, boozy hit, leather, dried leaves and spice with a longer bitter, woody finish. Medium to fullish body and moderate, yet tight carbonation. Sits a bit heavy perhaps. An old skool style British strong IPA. Not bad.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours hazy amber with a decent foamy white head. The aroma is sweet and zingy, pink grapefruit, lemon rind, elderflower, biscuit, wood and resin. The taste is dry, nice snappy bitterness, wood, pine needles, touch of resin, pithy, zesty, grapefruit, lemon rind and peppery spice with a drying finish. Average body and fine, foamy carbonation. Works pretty well in a old school British IPA way. Decent bitterness suits it.
