Description
Controlling the flavour of a beer is much like controlling energy – it requires scientific knowhow, the right equipment and a bit of an appetite for adventure.

OGV Taproom has been developed by the team at OGV Energy, a well-established media group within the energy industry. Through the growth and development of OGV Energy, Director and staff members are lucky enough to travel to many different locations for industry events and brand development. It was on our travels we discovered a variety of craft beers and breweries across the world, sparking a desire to create our own brand back home, in Aberdeen.

Bottle from the OGV Taproom. It pours crystal clear pink to red with a decent fluffy pinkish - white head. The aroma is sweet, juicy, tangy, fairly bright, raspberry jam, victoria sponge cake, candy cane, touch of green apple skin and raspberry pip. The taste is crisp, dry, slightly tart and puckering, fresh raspberry, green apple skin, hint of tannin, light malt base and touch of sherbet/fizzy cherry cola bottles with a dry finish. Average body and moderate, foamy carbonation. I quite like the tart freshness to it. Exceeded expectations for the fruit beer style.

500ml bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours ever so slightly hazy / not crystal clear with a dissipating white head. The aroma is sweet, perfumed, sweet and intoxicating, bubblegum, ripe melon, apple, pear drops, spice, hay, touch medicinal / rubber and orange marmalade. The taste is toothy, sticky, bitter - sweet, slick and oily, perfumed, bubblegum, pear drops, melon, candy, chewy, peppery spice, candied orange peel, fairly raw, boozy alcohol action and again a touch of something medicinal. Drying and boozy finish. Medium - fulsome body, fine carbonation and thick mouth feel. A bit rough around the edges to be honest. I got through the bottle, but I am sure to feel the boost.

Keg at BD Dalston - London. Pours unclear copper with a thin, creamy white head. Lightly sweet, some bready malts, subdued raspberry, a little British yeast maybe. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Decent balance to finish, more raspberry, vague fruits, berries, a slight leafy note, bread. Good enough.

Bottle picked up at OGV taproom. It pours jet black with a small amount of dark tan bubbles on top. The aroma is rich roasted malt, dull smoke, peat reek, sticky, earthy dunnage floor, umami, liquorice, dark chocolate, vanilla fudge, toasted coconut, rocky road and gateaux. The taste is slick, oily, toothy, thick, chewy, rich chocolate action, gateaux, roasted malt, jammy berry, neopolitan ice cream, earthy, charred wood, pleasing whiskey character, some peaty smoke, fudgey, touch of tannin and some alcohol warmth with a slick finish. Fulsome body, light carbonation and oily mouth feel. Flavourful. Whiskey is well integrated with the base beer. A touch more carbonation wouldn't go amiss though. Well done.
