Description
It was 1857 when Hugo Bayerlein founded the Bayreuther Bierbrauerei. In 1872 Hugo Bayerlein sold the brewery to a group of investors. These changed the brewery's name to a public limited company and sold the shares to Bayreuth families. In 1965, the Maisel brewery, with its Gebr. Maisel brewery, acquired a large package of shares and thus provided a positive impetus for the further development of our Bayreuth brewery. In this way, the Bayreuth brewery was able to maintain its independence, develop positively and enter into a well-functioning cooperation with the neighboring family brewery. With a large portion of foresight, the managers of our Bayreuth beer brewery and the Gebr. Maisel brewery decided in the 1960s to use our capacities together. So the new location was selected jointly and the joint production facility was founded.

(bottle, as Bayreuther Brauhaus Hell, 4.8% abv) Clear, pale golden colour with a big and blond foamy head. Strawy and slightly doughy malty aroma with shy grainy spots and a tinge of herbal hops. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a crisp carbonation. Pale malt-character with strawy and delicately grainy notes; sweet and slightly bitter hoppy finish with a whiff of grainy notes. Clean, unspectacular and drinkable in large quantities. 29.XI.11

Bottle. It pours a clear, golden body under a small, dense, off-white head. Fruity on the nose, with a subdued maltyness. Some grass, hay and pine cones too. Quite sweet in the flavor, with fruityness, some pale malts and a decent bitterness towards the end. Medium body, semi-sweet, pleasant carbonation. Overall, a decent beer, but I find it a bit sweetish. 111126

50cl swing top pours a nice clear amber with tan head. The mild aroma is mineral notes, bread, toasted bread, a bit of grainy malts and a faint sense of roasted malts. The taste is a nice mix of malts and other notes. I get modest levels of roasted malts, some minerals, artisan bread, toasted wheat bread and a mild background of prunes and over ripe cherries. It has a pleasing grainy and fresh quality that grounds the whole experience. Tasty indeed.

50cl swing top pours clear copper with lasting and firm and impressive looking off white head. The mild aroma offers up a bit of fruity esters and an interesting mix of spicy hops and yeast. The taste is smooth and a little fruity with light skinned colored fruit, a moderate level of spicy hops, a bit of banana and wheat and just a faint floral hop note. I also get a sense of wild yeast into the finish creating a slight tartness.
