Description
It was 1857 when Hugo Bayerlein founded the Bayreuther Bierbrauerei. In 1872 Hugo Bayerlein sold the brewery to a group of investors. These changed the brewery's name to a public limited company and sold the shares to Bayreuth families. In 1965, the Maisel brewery, with its Gebr. Maisel brewery, acquired a large package of shares and thus provided a positive impetus for the further development of our Bayreuth brewery. In this way, the Bayreuth brewery was able to maintain its independence, develop positively and enter into a well-functioning cooperation with the neighboring family brewery. With a large portion of foresight, the managers of our Bayreuth beer brewery and the Gebr. Maisel brewery decided in the 1960s to use our capacities together. So the new location was selected jointly and the joint production facility was founded.

Standard clear yellow golden color. Large white head, dissappearing fast. Slight hint of sour in the smell. Taste a little like weizen, but thinner.

Clear orange color, almost no head. Don’t smell much, little like pilsener, little musty. Average taste, low body, low to medium carbo.

Bottle with Nick. Pours cloudy, light brown with a soft head. Bready, biscuity aroma, slight earth. Pretty sweet, bits of toast, some grass and earth. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Bready finish, toast, light cereal and earth. Very nice. (June 2011, score: 3.7)

Bottle shared on the train from Sulzbach Rosenberg to Nuremberg during the Bamberg Jolly. Pours clearish gold with a creamy white head. Delightful beer! Great crispy cereal character, some dirty hay, mild grassy bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. More crispy cereal to close it out, light bitter hay. Great balance. Lovely. (January 2014, score: 4.0)

The bottle looks simple, but good. Beer in the glass very zippy, nice head. Starts mild, modest dry, malty, not very hoppy, a bit sweet. Finish still mild, sweet-spicy. Could be more hoppy, but still very drinkable.

Süß-herber, ziemlich milder Antrunk. Im Verlauf nur minimal würziger werdend, dann sofort wässrig, langweilig. Als letztes ist ein leichter Hopfen präsent, alle anderen Aromen verkümmern. Trinkbar. 8/6/7/6/7/6

50cl bottle from Bierzwerg. Poured hazy dark orange color with a typical frothy weissbier head. Aroma is yeast and clove, quite peppery. Flavor is yeast, banana and spices. Low carbonation. Refreshing and drinkable, but does not really do it. Bit on the thin side

A clear sickly brown beer with a thin big bubbled off white head. In aroma, a husky malt aroma, mashed grains, kight nuttyness. In mouth, a sweetish nutty malt with light chocolate, faint hopping, rather boring.
