Hmm... this beer smells like vomit, but at least it tastes better than Natural Ice. So on the scale it ain’t the worst.

Rerated 6/2009: Quite rude and difficult in all respects, almost as bad as Jagaur from Melanie. I’m not sure what I saw in the first rating. Perhaps this case was really old. Lots of gag reflex sticking its ugly little head up..............Old rating: This is my first rating of a malt liquor. So you are mumbling ‘This can’t be the first time he’s tasted it?” No it is not….. I’ve had this before I became an amateur ratebeerian. But first, I wanted to get some experience with about 200 ‘good’ beers and really give this brew equal footing before I BMC step on it. So, this is neither a number padder nor a memory rate. This beer is being sampled as I review. The container is a 24 oz bomb with a built in flip top opener. Big, proud silver can that boldly states ‘211 – steel reserve’. I’m from the general vicinity of the steel city so I thought I’d rate it. Pours glowing yellow in my steeler stein. When I popped the lid there was an odd fleeting aroma, but it’s instantly gone. Imagine a country creek rapidly distancing itself from you. It then settles to a typical slight hint of industrial sweet yeast alcohol and fruit aroma typical of many high abv% beers. Very clear bright yellow with constantly rising streams of medium sized bubbles. An initial impression of offensive alcohol greats your taste buds, something like the alcohol impact of good strong ale, scott(ish) ale or possibly even barley wine. It’s in your face, without any maltyness or hop flavors, possibly syrupy. It says it is slow brewed for a maximum of 28 days using twice the ingredients of many quality beers. Flavor is similar to medicine, somewhat like many IPAs. Rolling it around in my stein it seems to have a little thickness to it. Bubbles continue to rise in the glass and it’s carbonation is as good as many quality brews. Finish is typical of most any brew nearing 10%. Has a linger that lasts for quite a while, can’t get away from it – something like the bitterness associated with foreign stouts, its just not as piercing nor lasting. It does a slight tinge of needle movement on the ’gag-me reflexometer’ when tested with my uvula during the last swallows. Did not have high expectations for this one but I’ve tasted much worse.

I’m not expecting much from this beer, Milwaukee’s Best. Usually if it says best, you better be concerned. 12 oz pull top can, cost me $1 at the local pub but I know I can get this for 33 cents a can by the case if I so desire. Pours like any other good pale yellow beer I’ve poured in my former stooges and present steeler stein. Nice clear light yellow appearance. In a couple of places there is some carbonation rising. No offensive odor, as a matter of fact it does smell a little sweet attractive. Very gentleman like first taste, like a typical pale american lager. Nice creamy palate that is above average in carbonation. The slightly industrial finish is not as smooth as I would like to have for a lager, but there is nothing real offensive to it. I think this may be a drawback to those who love IPA or imp stouts. Overall; decent beer, nice price.

Drank it out of the can. This may very well be one of the worst beers that I have ever poured down my throat. It tastes like sweat... yeah like sweat. I had about 4 beers in my before I tried this rubbish and it still tasted like I was licking the armpit of some sweaty guy at the gym. Horrible! I am almost ready to say that I would rather have Natural Light over this simply because the taste might be somewhat less offensive. If God is on my side, I will never drink this beer again. Zero redeeming qualities. (Have you figured out I hate this beer yet?)

Drank from bottle: Golden in color with white bubbles. Aroma was sweet and skunky. Sweet corny grain flavor, with a watery malt. Drinking beer only!

To start, I’m dumbfounded and a bit distressed by the fact this perfectly executed experiment in barley nectaring has garnered only 24 ratings. But, class does not suit everyone, literally or figuratively. It suits me. A veritable orgy of tastebuds and urine washes over my palate, threatening all kinds of diseases and perhaps a misshapen monstrosity of a child. This is the kind of beer that screams, "you know what? Who needs illegal labor when good, honest work delivers such exquisite fruits?" In a world of taxation and regulation, corporate America still delivers what Americans crave. In fact, isn’t this what eye surgeons use to correct myopia?

I was very hot and was offered this, very cold. Aroma of maize, skunk. Tasted like fizzy water, metallic finish. I could not finish it. I poured it and drank water. Much more refreshing than this yellow liquid.
