25/2/2022. Bottle sample courtesy of SHIG, cheers. Pours black with a very small beige bubble head. Aroma is dark chocolate, ashy, roasted malt, lightly smoked, toffee, pepper. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness, light chilli pepper notes. Quite full bodied, some slickness to mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Nicely done, though not quite up to expectations. I've a bottle in stock dated 7/2025 so assuming I'm still around I'll revisit this beer about then, see how it's developed. Update 17/5/2025. I was still around! Lots of smoked chilli pepper, quite rubbery, chocolate. Light drying tart finish. Liked it, rating unchanged.

Bottle split at the Autumn Watford tasting, thanks to Dave, 24/09/21. Black with a tan head that escapes edgewards. Nose is dark malts, caramel, toffee, chocolate, light green pepper spice. Taste comprises cocoa powder, burnt toffee, light smoke, spice, light chilli flicker, dark malts, charr. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close Decent enough but overall lacks some depth for the high boost offered.

330ml bottle. Pours black with the thinnest of tan heads. Aroma of chocolate, chilli, smoked meats. Taste is very smokey at first, meaty, rich dark chocolate, chilli is nice, warming, slightly fruity, brown sugar, molasses, more chocolate as it warms, bittersweet. Medium bodied. Nowhere near as thick as the BPAVK beers this is supposedly built off, but very decent.

Keg at the Outpost - Bermondsey. Pours clear, bright gold with a modest, creamy white head. Lightly sweet with a bit of citric tang, subtle wheat, straw, nips of dough, soft yeast expression, mild bitterness. Light bodied with delicate, massaging carbonation. Pretty clean finish, more subtle citric tartness, wheat bread. Enjoyable.

Medium to big sweet flavour, ample smoke, pear, earth, chocolate, raisins, bourbon, iodine. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. 75cl bottle from Sophie's Beer Store. Gusher unfortunately, shot out a large amount of foam and beer immediately on opening. Once in the glass a snowstorm of yeast eventually settles after five minutes or so. Hazed amber appearance, rocky off-white foam that sticks around with lumps of yeast lining the glass. Aroma of coriander, floral witbier yeast. Taste is quite pleasant, some interesting spice and sweet floral notes, coriander coming across quite prominently. Shame about the gushing but it eventually settles into a pleasant sipper.
