Hey! We're Kit and Matt. We set up Wye Valley Meadery in 2018 and have been producing a growing range of delicious sparkling and traditional meads ever since. Our experimentation led us to create some beer / mead hybrids and we quickly realised this required further investigation.

330ml can from Myrrdins, Barmouth. Hazy golden colour, white foam head and aroma of honey, floral, heathery. Taste is sweet, honey, honeycomb, floral, heather, mellow, drying. Light to medium bodied, light carbonation, medium sweet honey finish. Quite drinkable

330ml can from Myrddins Taproom shop, Barmouth. Clear reddish golden colour, bubbly white foam head that quickly dissipates away and aroma of honey, flowery, heather, rhubarb. Taste is sweet, honey, floral, herbal, spicy, with some rhubarby notes and tartness. Medium bodied, light carbonation, drying herby & rhubarb finish with lingering sweetness. Quite drinkable.

330ml can from Drunk Monk, Wrexham. 3.4%. Clear pale golden colour, short-lived white foam head that dissipates to a thin rim and aroma of honey, elderflower. Taste is sweet, light honey, floral hints, with some elderflower notes, sugary. Light to medium bodied, light carbonation, medium sweet finish. OK.

330ml can from Drunk Monk, Wrexham. 3.4%. Reddish salmon-pink colour, initial bubbly pink foam head that dissipates away and aroma of honey, flowery, cherry. Taste is sweet, honey, floral, with cherry notes, bakewell tart and some sourish acidity. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, sweet & slightly tart at the finish. Quite drinkable.

Can. Color: Hazy golden, large frothy white head. Aroma: Hoppy, floral. Taste: Very floral, floral hop. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Moderate sweet and moderate bitterness. Very dry finish. Nice experimental hazy Pale Ale.

Bottle from Purple Moose shop in Betws Y Coed. Color: Almost black, thin beige head. Aroma: Roasted malt, sweetish, notes of smoke. Taste: Roasted malt, sweetish honey notes, subtle smoke / burned wood. Hints of coffee. Over medium body, below average carbonation. Over moderate to medium sweet, moderate bitterness.

330ml can from Everyman's Wines. Deep reddish appearance, no head. Strange sweet glacé cherry flavours with a hint of Bakewell icing that is probably the honey mead coming through. Not massively into this kind of cherry flavour unfortunately but comes across well.

28/6/2024. Bottle bought at Hive Mind Mead & Brew Co, Caldicot. Pours clear dark mahogany brown with a small frothy off-white to beige head. Aroma is smoky, roasted, dark fruits, chocolate, caramel, ashtray, dark honey. Medium sweetness, roasted bitterness and body. Slight fruity tart edge developed. Smokiness faded. Got better.

28/6/2024. Tap at Hive Mind Mead & Brew Co, Caldicot. Pours clear amber brown with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma is chocolate, toasted, malts, dried fruits, wood, hedgerow, vanilla. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, a little watery, average carbonation. Not amazing but better from tap at source it seems.

28/6/2024. Bottle pour at Hive Mind Mead & Brew Co, Caldicot. Pours clear pure honey gold with no head. Aroma is sweet honey, wild flowers, vanilla, light straw. Medium plus sweetness. Medium body, sticky, no carbonation. Long bittersweet finish. Well done.
