Description
In our brewery, called De 7 Deugden (the 7 Virtues), we brew exclusively special beers. Our beers are different from what you are accustomed to, because we make use of several herbs and spices.
At De 7 Deugden we employ people for whom a normal job is not self-evident. The brewery offers these people a place where they matter and where they get an opportunity to develop their skills.
We call our beer brave because it is different. We don’t bother with fashion fads, habits or beer style regulations. We make beer that has taste, a lot of taste. We make beer that you wont’t easily forget. We make beer that you combine with a good meal or delicious cheeses. You can call us contrary, call the beer “particular” or “different” and when you like our beers then call yourself curious, sensualist, or even better brave.

Aroma of bready malt, caramel, candy sugar, mild smoke. Flavour is medium sweet with a light bittersweet finish. Well, I liked the smokey notes, but the harsh sugary sweetness means this beer is not for me.

Aroma of bready malt, fruits, some citrus, spicy notes, touch of tyme, hoppy notes. Flavour is moderate sweet with a moderate bittersweet finish. I don’t crave for another one, but this is a decent well-balanced spiced Maibock.

Bottle at home. Aroma is dark malt, some chocolate, hint of mocha, some smoke and coffee. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied. I didn’t get much American hop aroma, but the malts carry this beer. Very clever, I approve of this use of leftover brewing ingredients.

Bottle at home. Aroma is malt, spices, anise, caramel, dark chocolate, liquorice, cinnamon, dark fruity notes. Flavour is medium to heavy sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. I’m not usually a fan of spiced ’winter ales’, but this one had a good malty liquorice backbone with a pleasant touch of chocolate at the end. Well made.
