Description
Pucker Up & Join the Sour Revolution

Cascade Brewing has been a pioneer in the sour beer renaissance since 2006 and is the proud innovator of the Northwest Sour Ale. We are, by nature, the definition of artisanal brewing: we’re not bound by stylistic guidelines, just our own imagination and the ingredients we can access. Our distinctive sour beer blends feature fruit forward, barrel-aged ales that offer a complex array of flavors derived from Northwest grown ingredients, with each release capturing the unique subtleties of that year’s growing season. Our beers are brewed at our original brewery in Southwest Portland, then blended and aged at our nearby Blending House, which holds more than 1,300 oaks barrels and nine foudre tanks.

Wow just like old times. I have a rate that is right next to Jake65. Pretty cool anyhow. On tap at Raccoon Lodge Portland, Pours out a light straw topped with a thin white head. Aroma was of light floral hops and a little sweetness. Taste was more of the light floral hops and some caramell malts.

On tap at Raccoon Lodge Portland, Pours out a brown with some red highs topped with a small tan head. Aroma was very nice lots of cherries, oak, sweet vanilla and some tartness. Taste was all the aroma and more. the right amount of sweetness. The cherries and oak made a good combo. A tast treat. I did have them fill a 0.5 flip top to bring back to Boise but the bar tender poured it in a pitcher and then in to the bottle. Needless to say I just drank it that night at the hotel. Because I didn’t think it would make it home with any carbination. O well next time.

Shared by Tim, thanks a lot. The appearance is all murky, like amber colored jello with bits and pieces visible and static in the beer. Cannot see through it but light radiates out. Head is medium at first, then fades but comes back easily with some agitation. Aroma is strong, tingles the nose with some alcohol and white grape. It is a cool combination, never had so much grape actually come out of a beer. As Tom mentioned the grape also comes off a bit mint-like. Some aceto and acetic qualities that work great in the structure of the beer. Flavor is spiky, acetic, white grape. Really a strong New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc aspect. Some white dry wood comes through with a thick tart aftertaste. The fizzy mouthfeel also works beautifully with the beers structure. Cascade is really stepping up their game with the new sours, much better than the original fruit ones.
750ml cork and wire, Duvel tasting glass.

Bottle shared by bu11zeye. Pours with a tan head over a murky brown body. Aroma is hugely vinous with cherries, lacto and red wine. Taste is sour, lacto, cherries, more cherries, port wine, oak and dryness. Dry mouthfeel with light bubbles.

Draught. Poured read with thick white head. Oakey and malty aroma. Tasted like cough syrup, with tinges of vomit. Oak finish. Disgusting.

750 ml corked and caged bottle purchased at Uber Tavern in Seattle, Washington. Pour is hazed orange golden with a smallish white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of sweet muscat white grapes, honey, decent blast of sourness to the end. Taste is the white grape (big) initially, then a nice sour acetic followed by the floral honey with very soft and mild sweetness. Palate is medium to full, decently active carbonation, clean finish. Not much alcohol present. Really nice one.
