Description
Pucker Up & Join the Sour Revolution

Cascade Brewing has been a pioneer in the sour beer renaissance since 2006 and is the proud innovator of the Northwest Sour Ale. We are, by nature, the definition of artisanal brewing: we’re not bound by stylistic guidelines, just our own imagination and the ingredients we can access. Our distinctive sour beer blends feature fruit forward, barrel-aged ales that offer a complex array of flavors derived from Northwest grown ingredients, with each release capturing the unique subtleties of that year’s growing season. Our beers are brewed at our original brewery in Southwest Portland, then blended and aged at our nearby Blending House, which holds more than 1,300 oaks barrels and nine foudre tanks.

From tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Aroma is vinous with white grapes, wood, fruits, white wine, some citrus, and funky notes. Puckering sourness with sweet tones, but not as intensely sour as I've come to expect from Cascade. Good!

Can at BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Robust sourness with plenty of candy-like sweetness as well. Boozy like a cocktail, orange peel, bourbon, tart berries, bit vinous. Medium body. A lot going on. In your face, as expected from Cascade.

Bottle at the DCBeer bottle share. Poured a prety looking, red-wine red color. Aroma was tart grape. Big vinous character here. Port wine, some light dusty notes, with a bit of age on it. Tart, but not sour grape wine, with some light leather and cherries.

Bottle from Beer Republic. Aroma is fairly strong on the juniper with herbal and floral notes, orange peel, touch of funk, elderflower. Flavour is heavily sour and acidic. Body is medium. In true Cascade fashion, rather sour and acidic, with a funky herbal floral aroma.

From tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam. A bit spicy with oak, apricot, ripe-ish fruits. Tart flavour with a medium sourness, somewhat puckering but not as acidic as most Cascade. More spicy oaky notes in the finish. Very nice.

LCI. RIP Cascade. Gonna miss beers like this. Tart cherry and that clean dry almond-like note from the noyaux. Pleasant tartness, clean dry funk.
