A 19.2 oz can acquired when or where I do not recall. But the beer came from a Texas brewery telling me I got it locally or in the DFW area. I've been to Altstadt before, a few years ago, nice place but the beers run somewhat bland. My Buffalo Bayou glass is getting the pour this early evening. I see an essentially black body with tan highlights and a fairly tall cream colored head that slowly settles. The scent is attractive enough, there is chocolate, grain, earth and a hint of herbal. I take a drink and am pleasantly surprised. This is easily the best beer from the brewery I have ever had. Sourdough bread, chocolate, dark plums, cut hay, malt and pecans. The taste is pleasant, I get a sort of Belgian ale feel from it and the texture is good also, substantial and rich. Some sweetness and a corresponding amount of bitterness at the end. Perhaps the top doppelbock in my history.

12 oz. bottle from H.E.B. Plus, Boerne, TX. Pours a crystal clear bronze color with a large khaki head and great retention. Decent lacing. Light caramel malt aroma. Light caramel malt flavor too. Tastes like a mix of Marzen and Festbier styles. Malt-forward. Clean and smooth. Lightly sweet. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Light bitterness. Nice beer.

12 oz. can from HEB in Boerne, TX. Pours a crystal clear gold color with a white head and great retention. Very few spots of lacing. Sweet ripe peaches aroma. The taste follows the nose: Sweet peach flavor throughout with a crisp finish. The flavor tastes natural, not cloying. Super clean and smooth. Super refreshing and easily repeatable. Not a lot of beer flavor. Light body. Medium carbonation. Zero bitterness. Great light radler.
