$2.95 pint can, Wine Warehouse. Pours murky brown with a soft beige head. Aroma is mocha, very nutty, sweet aroma, caramel. Flavor is sweet vanilla, coffee, nuts, brown sugar. A bit artificial in the flavor, which kills it for me. Good, not great.

Bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours murky amber with a beige head. Aroma is red fruit, dried fruit, rubbing alcohol, caramel. Not as appealing as many others in the style. Flavor is dried fruit, alcohol, cherry, caramel, toffee, burnt sugar. Not loving it. Going to let it warm a bit as try again.

Pour is a dark amber with a small tan head. Aroma is molasses type malts with some herbal hop. Flavor is some caramel malt without being overly sweet. Then comes a bit of molasses sweetness follow by some brown sugar. The beer is still not a sugar bomb with all the flavors that come out and the alcohol is hidden well. Pretty solid barley wine. Flavorful without a huge alcohol hit.

$3.50 bottle, Wine Warehouse. Pours slightly hazy golden with a dusting of a head. Aroma is tart lime, vanilla, cream. Flavor is tart fruit: passion fruit, lime, guava, lemon, followed by cream, vanilla. Very interesting combination... quite enjoyable.

$3.50 bottle, Wine Warehouse. The label doesn't say "Fraoch" anywhere anymore. Just "Viking" and "Scottich-style sour ale." Pours clear amber with a dusting of a head. Aroma is tart fruit - cherry perhaps, lightly floral, light honey. Flavor is tart cherry, balsamic vinegar, light greens. Tangy is the best way to describe this. Interesting, kinda tasty.

$4.50 bottle, Wine Warehouse. Pours clear amber-brown with a dusting of a head. Aroma is sour, flat alcohol, rotting fruit. Flavor... well, hmm. Starts out with some sweet dark fruit, stone fruit, followed by some rotting citrus, chocolate, funk, hay. Honestly, this tastes like a batch that went bad and they decided to call it a sour and bottle it. Thin carbonation.

I thought the combination of sour flavor with chocolate was not good. I know orange and chocolate are commonly used together but with the sour beer flavor it was too unusual.
