Description
Viru Brewery was Estonia's third largest brewery, and produced the Wiru, Puls, Žiguli and various other brands. It was located in Haljala in Lääne-Viru County.

Production of beer was discontinued in 2020.

Bottle. Medium head with medium duration. Color is pale golden. Aroma and taste are hops, malt and grass. Nice and bitter.

Plastic bottle (thanks Aija and Saku). Golden colour, small fluffy white head. Aroma is rotten vegetables, grains, bready and rubbery. Flavour is even a worse mix of the same.

Bottled (thanks Saku & Aija). Yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is hops, rubber, grains and some herbal notes as well. Flavour is grains, vegetables, bread and mild mouldy notes. Not that nice, but far from totally horrible.

Bottled (thanks T.M.!). Yellow colour with some greenish hints. Aroma is sweet sugary and artificial pear along with some slight vinegary notes. Sweet sugary pear along with some apples. Overly sweet and artificial.

Golden color, small white head. Light aroma of ginger and honey, citrus lime. Slightly sour, papery with artifical lime flavor. Like drinking a radler. Dry cardboardish aftertaste.

Golden color, small white head, lace. Nose starts rubbery then fresh grassyness and birchwood. Light maize too. Sweet corn flavor, grassy hoppyness. Odd plastic aftertaste.

Bottle. Bought in Estonia. Greenisch pale yellow colour. Moderate perry aroma. Dry moderate perry flavor. Npt as sweet as feared. Short finish. Watery palate. Better than somersby but not very good either.

Bottle. Small head with very short duration. Color is like tap water. Aroma is sugar and fruits. Taste is pear, sugar and vinegar.

Clear golden color, small white head. Aroma has maize, cereals and cardboard, light malts. Flavor has corn, apple, harsh malts, some distant hop like grassy notes. This is probably improved version of Zhiguli.

Bottled (thanks Kairit). Yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is grains, bready malts as well as some hops. Flavour is grains, saltwater, some mild rubbery notes as well as hay. Big sweetish rubbery finish.
