Ah, a beer inspired by the Freak Shake, supposedly a Canberra thing. A friend of mine was in a sporting club that had an annual trophy for the member whose behaviour was most depraved and grotesque. There were many worthy entries, the proviso being that no behaviour that sought The HubCap was eligible. And that is the problem with putting a doughnut on a stick on whipped cream on a milkshake in a glass mug: performative decadence doesn't count for anything. Can. Very dark brown. A tan head very soon retreats to the rim. Aroma is slightly boozy with praline, Bounty, mocha. Encouraging it doesn't smell overwhelmingly sweet. Smooth, lowish carbonation. No obvious lactose (always a relief). Lots of chocolate and coconut. Has a bit of a fake nutty/ caramel feel that's kept in check at first but let's see how the big can goes. The coconut/ mocha/ slight roast/ bitterness hangs together pretty well, managing to be rich & decadent without being cloying. But it nags after a while - perhaps a 500ml can shared amongst four would suit.

From a 500ml can on 3/5/2021. Pours a hazy medium golden with a small head. The aroma is light and fruity. On the sip, there's a good dash of mango, apricot and peach sweetness, along with a bit of breakfast cereal, followed by a restrained bitterness with a touch of grass and spice. The mouthfeel is pillowy with a bit of creaminess, the carbonation moderate. Very nice stuff - lovely balance and super approachable.

Aromas of pineapple, passionfruit, grapefruit, biscuit and a little stonefruit. A nice creamy palate and a bitterness that starts strong and finishes smoothly. Another great beer from the Feels series, even if it's perhaps not quite as epic as the others I've had.

From a 500ml can on 7/4/2021. Pours a cloudy golden with a medium head.Has a light tropical and citrus nose with a touch of grass. Tastes quite citrussy up front with lots of mandarin and tangerine, a hint of lime, and some pineapple and passionfruit in the background. Finishes with a moderate tangy citrus bitterness. Medium bodied with light but slightly fizzy carbonation. Quite distinctive and comes together rather nicely.

Can. Opaque dull orange with a good cm of white head. Rather vague and shy aroma with some earth and grass, modest citrus. After that underwhelming start, things really pop: juicy oranges, some lime, grass, pulpy pineapple over light bread. Then quite subtle pine creeps in as it dries out slightly with distinct bitterness.

Can. Almost opaque orange with a cm of white head. Aroma of oranges, lemon, grapefruit, honeydew melon - lots of Citra, which I love. Sweet with chewed crackery malt, lots of citrus. Softness is undermined a bit by some burning astringency towards a finish that's otherwise peppery and moderately bitter.

Can. Very pale gold with a large white head that fades quickly to a good inch then gradually. Aroma of grapefruit, lemon syllabub, crackers, white pepper. Light bodied but there's just a hint of malty richness there before a cheerful roar of citrus leads to a dryish and moderately bitter finish. Hops are very American but the approach owes a bit to NZ lagers. This is good.
