About
Epli Sideri si historie starta tilbake i 2015 då dei to brødrene Kristian og Karl Magnus starta å lage eplemost og sider på familiegarden på Sekse i Hardanger. Dei to brødrene danna då selskapet Hardangergutane. Kort tid etter oppstart kom kona til Kristian, Inger, inn i selskapet. Det heile starta på låven i den gamle driftsbygningen på familiegarden på Sekse kor brødrene begge er vokst opp. Etter nokre år vaks Hardangergutane ut av driftsbygningen, og flytta inn i eit større lokale i eit gammalt fruktlager på Børve. (Ullensvangvegen 1525) Inger og Kristian kjøpte i 2021 ein ny og større gard på Sekse kor dei på kort tid har gjort eit omfattande arbeid med å plante opp nye frukthager, samt at dei også etter kort tid starta å planlegge bygging av nytt produksjonslokale.
I 2023 valgte Karl Magnus å gå ut av selskapet og Inger og Kristian tok over drifta. Sommaren 2024 går Hardangergutane inn i ein ny og spennende epoke kor produksjonen blir flytta tilbake på Sekse i nye og meir tilpassa lokale. Summen av desse endringane gjorde at vi hadde ønske om å skapa ein tydeligere identitet, og navnet Epli Sideri såg dagens lys.

KYG 221120. Red color with a pinkish small head. Aroma is apples, black current. Flavor is apple, black current, sourness, yeast, alcohol, grass.

Bottle, 75cl. It's a ruby-colored cider, clear and still. Berries, cellar, apple, grass and some apple cores and alcohol in the aroma. After a while, the apple is pushed more to the front. It's full-bodied and quite dry on the palate, with lots of berries and apple in the flavor. Some alcohol and grass chimes in, with a touch of dusty cellar. Long fruity, apple finish. A pleasant one indeed, even though I'm normally not very fond of berry ciders. 201122

KØLF 250920. Pale golden color with some small white bubbles. Aroma is sourness, apples. Flavor is apple, yeast, sourness, grass, floral, alcohol. Nice cider.

Bottle, 75cl. A faint haze in a mostly clear straw colored cider. Some bubbles rising, but no head forming. The aroma have a faint touch of sulphur and higher alcohol, but it's mostly very ripe apple, some apple storage room, grass and a touch of canned pears syrup. It's full-bodied, surprisingly warming for the ABV, smooth and with a pleasant sparkling sensation. Ripe apples mixed with fresh apple juice, some unripe apple grassyness and a very light sweetness. Rather acidic finish though. Except for the sulphur and alcohol, it's a very fine drink, went well with my creamy pasta dish, and served fine as a drink after the meal. 200906

Vi ligger til kai hos Hardangergutane, og etter en fin omvisning er det naturligvis smaking som gjelder. 0,75 flaske: Summerred og Discovery epler, 12 g restsukker. Herlig aroma og smak hvor solbærene gir en ekstra opplevelse. En lett perlende og elegant aperitif med trusefjernerpotensiale.

Bottle shared with Holmen1, JFE and JKE at the cidery on tour with Fridtjofen 13.08.20. Clear deep ruby. Some pink head. Excellently refreshing aroma and taste of cider apples, blackcurrants and sour cherries. Well balanced with crisp mouthfeel.

Can from SPAR , Kinsarvik. Clear straw golden body with practically no head but lively carbonation. Aroma is apple with hint of chewing gum and a little sulphite. Taste is sweet and rather acidic apple, no chewing gum or sulphite in taste. Medium body and dry, acidic apple aftertaste. Very refreshing, not very complex but one the better low alcohol strength ciders I have tasted, feels natural.

Bought at the brewery. Slightly unclear red body under a small, fast disappearing white head. Not much apple in aroma, mostly blackcurrant and sulphite. Taste is like sweet fruit with a dry base and slightly tart, acidic finish. Still missing the apple flavor as the blackcurrant dominates together with too much sulphite. Not quite my thing, but it’s drinkable and I finished my bottle sitting on a patio watching the Hardanger sunset, feeling quite happy.

Bottle. Clear, pale golden body under a fast disappearing, medium sized white head. Aroma of fresh, young apples with some acidity and sulphites. Taste goes in the same direction, a young and refreshing, quite light cider, medium sweet, some balancing acidity, floral and notable sulphites. Medium to light bodied and medium aftertaste. A nice summer drink.

Shared bottle at RB/HD at Bjørnøy 06.06.20. Clear golden. No head. Sublime aroma and tate of fresh Norwegian garden apples and apple zest. Very good!
