Description
Brass Castle commenced brewing in a garage as a commercial home brewer in August 2011 initially in Pocklington, East Yorkshire. In December 2013 they relocated to Malton, North Yorkshire and expanded to a 10BBL plant. Over time, new tanks arrived and a Taphouse was established next door. Success, friends, family and the odd bank loan have got us where we are now.
The brewery has always pushed itself to brew interesting beers, under the very deliberate constraint of doing so without the use of animal products. In turn, this caused Brass Castle to develop a house yeast strain and specialised processes that could guarantee the final product. From December 2017, every beer brewed at Brass Castle has been based on a gluten-free beer recipes – on the basis that beer should be made available to as many people as possible. Most recently, the brewery invested in canning line and carbonation tanks, to spread the beers further than they have gone before.

Cask @ Fox And Goose, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a creamy-frothy head. Hopped beer with the Amarillo part impacting taste giving it an exotic and almost lime fruit taste, mildly herbal and some malty-breadiness. Very interesting brew.

Clear dark amber with a thin head which soon fizzles away. Spicy/sweet beer with a genuine warmth. Flsvour has a mix of actual heat, sweetness, malt. Like a fairly traditional ale, but with spicy Christmas vibes. I dig it.

Hazy golden, thin white head. Light blueberry aroma. Flavour is big on blueberry and also a bready quality, really leaning into the muffin thing. I'm not getting much of the chocolate but there is a sugary quality, Doing a bit of the muffin vibes. This isn't that exciting or distinct but it's capturing what it's aiming at and it's very drinkable.

Cask-conditioned at the Pelican, Gloucester, 22/3/2024. Golden in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Aroma of blueberry, vanilla oak and leafy hops. Flavour had dark fruit and fondant sweetness, a touch more vanilla, crisp malts and a dryish finish. Fine.
