BB Nov 07: Pours hazy yellow with a off white creamy head. Aroma is of hops - fruity lemon/citrus/grapefruit. In the taste there is definetly something very unpleasant! Cardboard/leather taste. Smooth & OK filling body. But that taste of "wet dogg" ruins the whole thing!

Bottle. Black body, with an oily surface and some tan head. Roasted and burnt aroma, with alcohol-notes, wood, licorice and some turpentine notes. Heavy, roasted flavor, with licorice, some alcohol and tar. Full body. Long, burnt and tar-like finish. A really heavy beer, with lots of dark flavors. (070914)

Cask gravity at Nottingham BF 2007. Black with tan head, smells like cheap supermarket vanilla ice cream with chocolate ripple in it. Dullish, but the finish grows on you. Good vanilla essence.

Again heavy stuff from Alcazar: Bottle: Pitch black with a bubbly fast disappearing head. Sweet vinous, roas, liquirice, coffee. Soft mouthfeel - though body is very thin. Sweet , sugary/vinous. Tasty for a 6% porter!

500ml bottle @ Cardinal. Dark red/brown body with a short lasting off-white head. Aroma is roasted malt, some dry fruit and a gentle but distinct acidic touch (maybe the same as described as cellarish background in another rating). Flavor is roasted malt, dry fruit, a bit sour and alcohol. Relatively heavy body, almost a bit on the unbalanced side, but definitively an interesting ale.

Pours thick & pitch black with some small brown bubbles on top which disappears fast. Burned malts - chocolate, coffee & caramel. Some smokey & dusty "old" notes as well. Medium bodied. Oily & sticky. Smooth palate & flat carbonation. Sugar & sweet malts before a bitter roasted end. Nice!

Bottle. Pours a clear, dark, reddish brown with a small but consistent, beige head. It left lacings as well. It has a roasted, coffee-ish nose with a distinct cellarish background. Some alcohol and dried fruits as well. Maybe a bit cellerish, but definately pleasant as well. Flavorwise it starts roasted, but the cellar soon hits the roof of the mouth, and is followed by dried fruits, alcohol and some bitterness and licorice. The bitterness comes stronger towards the end, and has company with alcohol and sweetish dried fruits. Even though it is a quite sweet beer, it feels a bit too thin, and could use a fuller body. The warming feeling is nice though. And maybe I would like it to be not so cellarish, but after all it gives it a distinct flavor profile that makes it different from most other ales, and I like it. Bottle at cardinal , stavanger. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Intense aroma, alcohol, licorice, hop, apple. Flavour is medicine ripe, alcohol,licorice, hop, apple. Bitter finish. Strange beer.
