Description
Crooked Thumb Brewery owes it’s name to Pinellas County, which has been said to “hang off the west coast of Florida like a crooked thumb.” We decided on the name not only because of it’s reference to the geographic shape of the county but also its more literal reference to a uniquely shaped hand. We make hand crafted ales and we strive to do it in a fresh and unique way. We value alternative thinking and welcome anyone who, like a crooked thumb, sticks out.

When searching for a home for the brewery, there really was only one choice – the city of Safety Harbor. With it’s laid-back, small town charm, abundance of independently owned shops and restaurants and gorgeous bay-side location, it provides the perfect setting. We are excited to be a part of this community and provide a place where residents and visitors can gather, relax and enjoy.

Shaker ping draft at the Sandbar Restaurant on Anna Maria Island, Florida. The pour is a clear golden with no head. The aroma is cereal cracker malt with a nice mineral hop bite. The taste is the clean malt character balances against the mineral noble hop bite. The palate is light bodied with soft carbonation and the clean mineral finish.

375ml bottle from Luekens Wine & Spirits, Seminole. Light pinkish gold, hazy with almost no head. Light bretty aroma, some barnyard funk, a little bit of sour milk, tart stone fruit. Sour taste with milky plummy notes combatting the bitterness in the finish. Body is really watery and really flat. Overall it’s a pretty competent sour, a little bit different from the run-of-the-mill. And fun to drink.

Unexpected surprise considering the others from this set, lots of chocolate and marshmallow, nice body, no lactose (afaik, if so I'll know in a couple of hours!). Hints of hazelnut and coffee too. Nice! I've gotta visit reve for sure asap.
