Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a pale gold with minimal off-white headf. There’s some nuts in the aroma along with just a little hoppiness. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with floral hops to the fore, along with grains and oranges. A little spiciness follows eventually. Finish is slightly dry and bitter. Reasonable.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford – as Woodcote SPA (4.2%). Pours chrome yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Floral hops and some hints of oranges in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet with a light watery texture. Flavour is summer fruits and bread crusts with traces of malts. Eventually some hops start to show, and the finish is slightly bbitter. There’s not much body to this one, but what there is is decent. Definitely swiggable !

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at Leicester Beer festival, 11/3/2017. Near black in colour, with a thin, beige, head. Leafy hop, toasted malts and milk chocolate aroma. Flavour had more chocolate, some porridge oat sweetness and a hint of liquorice before a roasted malt finish. Enjoyable.
