Description
Ārpus Brewing Co. is an independent microbrewery, founded in 2017 by craft beer geeks from Latvia. We brew what we love - juicy hop forward ales, fruity sour beers and bold imperial stouts - and we’re proud that Ārpus Brewing Co. is voted as #1 brewery in the Baltic States on Untappd.
We chose Latvian word Ārpus for the name of our brewery, as its meaning reflects the types of beers we brew - outside the box, beyond the mass made lagers, beers with overwhelming flavours and aromas for people brave enough to step out of their comfort zone.
The brewery is located just outside Riga (Latvia), equipped with a 10hL brewhouse and 20hL fermentation vessels. Our beer is packaged in 440mL cans and KeyKegs, then stored in a cold room to keep it fresh longer.

Can. A mild to medium haze on this orange gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Light palate, a nice fine minerally crispness. Light pale malts, lightly sweet, spot on for me. Lovely juicy hop fruits. Bright stone fruits, a little Motueka lime. Touch of mellow lemon. Whisper of berry fruits on the back end. Finishes light with very mild touched of skunk and hop spice. Spiffin.

Can. Near clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Fairly smooth start to the palate, decent fine carbonation emerges late on. Light smooth pale malts provide a well judged light sweetness that suits this brew perfectly. The hand picked Nelson are a thing of beauty. For me, this hop has been a shadow of its former self for years but, the last 7 or 8 months, there has been a startling return to form. Here we have winey juicy grape with a side serving of gooseberry tartness. No resinous white port of the very best but, that's a minor nit pick. This is a super duper single hop dipa that I enjoyed immensely.

Tap at Drinkoteka. Hazy golden body, lasting off-white head. Creamy, resinous aroma, bit earthy and sweetish, okay but so Arpusish. Smooth taste, herbal hoppy notes, wormwood, resin, gum, bitter and lightly tart.... mkay. Arpus Pale Ale.

440ml can. Almost black pour with a small tan head. Aroma of dried fruits, raisins, dates, molasses. Taste is very rich, dried fruits, raisins, dates, molasses, chocolate, oaky barrels, warming booze. Full bodied, silky smooth.
Incredibly good beer. They've got the best of each style here - the sweet fruitiness of the BW, the chocolate malty flavours and fullness of the stout, and the barrels... excellently done.

Panda from Colin. Cheers. Opaque and oily appearing cola brown. Foamy beige head. Aroma had a punch. Forceful booze and sour berries/vinous notes over molasses and dark dough. Flavourwise it's quite sweet and burnt caramel with a bitter edge, that becomes more prominent into the finish. Booze. Espresso. Medium bodied. Slick to oily. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. I want to like it more but there's something slightly off-balance, a decimal point in the wrong place.
