Description
When we started this company, our goal was to keep it as straightforward as possible: to craft flavors and experiences that the people of Maine hadn’t had before, and serve them as fresh as possible. Over the years, as the business has grown, we are now able to share our beers with people in other areas – regionally, nationally, and internationally – but Maine always comes first. We strive to take care of those things closest to us, and let that radiate outward: our staff, our processes for making beer, our tap rooms and loyal customers, and the surrounding communities that support us. Everything we do is in support of these things, we are nothing without them.

Fresh can into a snifter showing hazy mucous yellow with no head. The nose shows big dank notes of cannabis and light pine resin. The palate is light bodied and lightly carbonated. Strong flavors of cannabis and pine with a moderate but gentle bitterness. Strong citric zest spiciness on the finish. I understand it’s insanely hyped, but I definitely prefer Substance.

Tallboy can shared at the July 2016 MDBG tasting, 7/11/16. Murky mucous pale yellow, thin fizzy off-white head, decent retention. Aroma of pine, pale malt, grapefruit pith. The taste is grapefruit, lime, pale malt. Thin-medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness.

Draught at the brewery, 10/21/16.
Dark, milk chocolate-to-cocoa brown body is of indetermined clarity and is topped by a light tan head with moderate retention.
Soy, vanilla, peanut brittle, and lactic notes in the nose? Smells very acidic/bitter, though not acrid. Strong English toffee character, with a very big estery fruitiness. Maybe a touch of fusels?
Rich toffee and cocoa notes are immediately joined by a very odd tangy, acidic character that is difficult to describe but seems to have a lot of fruitiness (apple, cherry, raspberry), light sharpness suggesting alcohol or fusels and is exacerbated somewhat by the roasted barley bitterness. Vanilla and toffee notes sweeten things giving it a sweet and sour sort of character. Malty texture, with medium, ample attenuation. Strange. Seems like something went wrong here.

Soupy, golden-amber-melon with a firm, medium-sized white head.
Not quite as juicy as expected in the nose, it’s actually a bit more floral and quite dry, with light grains, wheat, honey, etc...Still a fair bit of dry pineapple, light melon and lots of lemon rind. No resin, no alcohol, of course and no astringency or flaw.
Delicate in the mouth, with a very soft, wheat-laden texture showing high attenuation. A pleasant graininess keeps it crisp with lots of wheat, hay, straw, whitebread, etc.. character. There’s a honeysuckle-like sweetness that adds just enough maltiness to balance while light to moderate lemon rind and floral and grassy hops mix about on the finish. Tight, engaging carbonation and no alcohol or flaw. I think I’d trade some more alcohol for extra flavor and take a Baby Genius most of the time, but I’m sure there are times this abv would be perfect.

Pours hazy orange, not much foam. Aroma is fruity, juicy and has some ripe mango, papaya and passionfruit. Tastes super tropical and juicy. Beautiful. Nice dry bitter finish. Still clean in the midst of all of this. Juicebomb, not cloying and not heavy, just right.

Can shared. Thanks Kaori and Jon! Pours a slightly hazy glowing orange with a finger of foam that dissipates fairly quickly. Huge guava and mango nose with peach and citrus. Tropical juice on the palate. Almost no perceived bitterness. Just juice. Amazing stuff that stood up well against Alchemist and Trillium.
