Description
When we started this company, our goal was to keep it as straightforward as possible: to craft flavors and experiences that the people of Maine hadn’t had before, and serve them as fresh as possible. Over the years, as the business has grown, we are now able to share our beers with people in other areas – regionally, nationally, and internationally – but Maine always comes first. We strive to take care of those things closest to us, and let that radiate outward: our staff, our processes for making beer, our tap rooms and loyal customers, and the surrounding communities that support us. Everything we do is in support of these things, we are nothing without them.

Can into a wineglass showing cloudy dark yellow with half a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows light orange citrus. The palate is light bodied and well carbonated. Flavors of juicy orange with a light citrus background. Orange zest throughout and a citric zesty bitterness. So incredibly fruit forward; this is fantastic.

Canned 7/22/16, drunk 8/21/16.
About a week older than I prefer drinking these New England IPAs (any hop-forward beer, really) but still showing a large, off-white head atop a thoroughly soupy/murky copper-amber body. Head shows moderate retention.
Big cherry-grapefruit-like nose is spicy, lightly resinous and flecked with honey-graham cracker-like maltiness that helps balance things. Some grassy/perfume notes are interesting, and really sharpen the aroma, while softer, juicier mangoes and pineapples lie on the finish, as the lovely aromatic meld with the base malts. No alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth it’s full of pineapple, marmalade, ruby red grapefruit and light pine suggestions. Bitterness is stronger than usual for a NE IPA, but still well-controlled as cracker and biscuit malts alongside softer wheat textures help soothe the palate. Tight carbonation. No alcohol or flaw. Orange rind, lemon oil, pine and cherry linger with a dollop of sweet honey-like maltiness. 8/4/8/4/15
8/29/16 can, drunk 9/5/16.
Good to try a very fresh can, though I don’t think it measures up well to the month-old can I had prior, as odd as that sounds. Very strong bitterness, as Bissell is often given to, though here even more pronounced. While the month the prior sample I had rested, it definitely took the edge off of the bitterness/acidity, but given that fresh, as assumedly intended, it’s just too bitter/malty/boozy, I’m lowering my rating a bit. 8/4/7/3/14
Draught at the brewery, 10/21/16.
Every time I have this, I keep liking it less and less. Boozy, bitter, mushy-sweet and sluggish on the palate. Some people love this type of IPA. I do not. Rating is for this recent sample.

On tap at Farmhouse Tap and Grill.
This was poured into a long stemmed taster.
The appearance was a burnt yellow color with a thin white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace.
The aroma starts off with some sweet citrus pulp, then rind, Light onion dankiness.
The flavor had the same aromatics rolling in for a nice blend. Semi-sweet dry aftertaste with a nice semi-sweet to bitter finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a great sessionability about it. Low carbonation.
Overall, really nice session IPA that I would love to have again.

On tap at the Farmhouse tap and grill.
The was poured into a long stemmed taster.
The appearance was a hazy burnt ruddy orange to brown color with a thin white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace.
The aroma starts off with some sweet citrus rind, sweet to bitter grassiness, mild rye spice, and a subtle lemon underneath.
The flavor takes on the aroma nicely with a nice fully blended bittersweet aftertaste and mildly spicy finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fantastic sessionability about it. Carbonation rides nice and low allowing spicy rye to hit appropriately.
Overall, damn nice APA with rye in it. I would definitely love to have again.

On tap at Farmhouse Tap and Grill.
This was poured into a long stemmed taster.
The appearance was a thick hazy burnt yellow color with a thin white foamy head. Barely any lacing.
The aroma starts off with some sweet citrus rind and pulp bursting over some grapefruit rind. A huge amount of sweet grassiness comes in and then some sweet danky onion.
The flavor pretty much is the same with a nice bittersweet aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice unyieldingly smooth texture. Carbonation runs light with a great crisp sessionability about it.
Overall, hot damn, what a nice session IPA, does everything it’s supposed to. Would definitely have again.

Draught at the Thirsty Pig, 7/10/16.
Just a hilariously ugly, muddy, drab, mauve-dark amber. Beige head atop is large and well-retained. The first New England-style amber IPA I’ve seen.
Juiciness is there in force, with cherry, melon, lime and kiwi confronted by a pleasing graininess from the specialty malts. Fresh yeast adding lots of minerality and light earth with a hint of ash on the end. But the juicy, fruity, succulent hops persist and are joined by light honey-vanilla-caramel suggestions, softening the graininess somewhat. No alcohol or flaw.
Very soft texture with ample, tight carbonation and plentiful citrus notes mixing with melon, cherry and sweet lime. Graininess almost becomes problematic/scratchy but not quite and it actually dries out and balances the base malt and hugely juicy, fruity hops nicely. More citrus lingering on the end with moderate to moderately-high (but still tolerable) bitterness and no alcohol or flaw.
