Initially, Koch rented excess capacity and brewed the beer at the Pittsburgh Brewing Company. As sales increased Koch developed other contract arrangements at various brewing facilities with excess capacity. To reduce reliance on contract brewing Cincinnati's Hudepohl-Schoenling brewery was purchased in early 1997).
In 2007, the Boston Beer Company purchased the former F. & M. Schaefer Brewing Company brewery in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania. By 2012, the Company was producing two-thirds of all its beer at the Breinigsville facility, and it has increased brewing capacity there. The Boston Beer Company also has a small R&D brewery located in Boston (Jamaica Plain), Massachusetts, where public tours and beer tastings are offered.

Classical one, on the German tradition, malty, metalic, watery, hop, not extraordinary but it is a drinkable one.
15.10.17, at Prélaz, finding it in one coop.

It is a decent lager, it sounds more like a pale ale than a vienna lager, malty, hop, a bit watery, copper body, simply refreshing, 19.03.17, at one coop and tasting it at Prélaz.

Day 22 of the advent calendar, expired Dec 5, thanks Beer Republic. Hazy amber but just slightly, nice tall head. Pina colada nose and decent citrusy, juicy flavor with moderate bitterness. Good body, well packaged to last this well, nice one!

Surprised to learn this is a new version. i had it before, liked it quite much. Found a bottle in the airforce base - shop in Germany, no idea if it's fresh / kept well during transfer, but I figured what's there to loose?
So, (re) rating this beer, unexpectedly, even thouhg it's been years since I've had it (the old version) so can't really compare that well. This one pours bit unclear amber. Creamy, stable white head. Scent is bready, caramel malts, but seemingly crisp and quite sharp. Some (earthy) hops. taste is sharp, bit bitter, crisp maltyness but also some oxidation beyond these flavors, stale honey-maltyness, even touch of cardboard. guess it didn't travel all to well indeed, or it's just less good than I remember it to be. Still, it has a certain crispyness, though. It falls a bit flat in the end, no lingering bitterness, sweet-ish even - might be the oxidation again. Meh... not very happy with this, but I knew it was a risk. Might try again if i'm ever getting one I know is fresh.

CBJ tasting, thanks to LKS for the bottle. Soft dark malts, a little dark chocolate and cream. Modest coca cola soaked ripe fruits. Airy finish. Rich, if not top Division.

Black with large light brown head and mild effervescence. Coffee, chocolate malt, and straw aroma. Moderately sweet coffee, chocolate malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Light body.

0,5l(?) bottle at home. Black color, no head. smells molasses, spices, whiskey, boozy, glue. Nice smell, boozy. full body, no carbonation. tastes molasses, bourbon, vanilla, boozy, glue, wood, cognac, booze. finishes very boozy with notes of cognac, glue and booze. Nice one, but very boozy (obviously), more a liqueur than a beer really
