Bottle shared by kraddel at Gents Bierfestival, Panama country tick... But what a country tick this is: a Gose with kaffir lime leaves, why haven’t I encountered this combination before from more ’seasoned’ craft beer countries? Medium thick, off-white, lacing head, misty straw blonde robe with greenish hue. Aroma of indeed kaffir lime leaves but lime juice as well (which I am aware comes from a different plant species), wakame, sourdough, soap, chalk. Gooseberry tartness in the onset, sweetish peachy core somewhere, soapy mouthfeel, very ’wheaty’, bit doughy and soft, with a pinch of seaweed-like saltiness on the sides. The soft lactic sourness dries the palate in a refreshing way, while this kaffir lime spicing colours the finish bright green, with added hoppy grapefruit accents and tropical flowers; sourness ends it all, along with lingering saltiness and something notably chalky. I had no idea these Central-American countries are also embarking on the craft beer adventure, but why not - this is a surprising start in any case, I’m left wondering what other fascinating beers Panama harbours - at least this brewery also makes IPAs, stouts and barleywines, so apparently the future looks bright in this part of the world...

Big thanks to Kraddel! A gose with Kaffir lime from Panama how about that! Quite hazy golden, white bubbles. Nose is bit too muted, low lime, soap, faint mineral. Taste is a lot better luckily, basic lemon, lime, mineral, doughy, zest, not too salt, simple but good lime profile,… Body is touch doughy,… Far from complex but nice, fruity, not bad at all. So much better than most country ticks.

19/VIII/17 - 355ml bottle @ Gents Bierfestival - BB: n/a (2017-1292) Thanks to kraddel for sharing the bottle!
Little cloudy pale white-yellowish to murky pale beige beer, small white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: spicy, cinnamon, bit fruity. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: lemon juice, bit salty, floral, funky notes. Aftertaste: spicy, floral, bit saline, not much though, lemony, funky, pretty bitter finish. Lovely refreshing beer, not the best in it's kind but surprising to see a beer like this being made in Panama! Two thumbs up, guys!
