Description
We believe in making great beer with clean, natural ingredients and hard work. We don’t use flavorings, additives or extracts while always trying new recipes and ideas, all with the goal of loving people and our planet.

Growing up, Pawleys Island was a constant source of joy in the Blake brothers’ lives. While brewing a batch of home-brew at Pawleys on the front porch their grandfather built, the idea of Pawleys Island Brewing was born. The goal was to bring the same joy and Pawleys’ charm to the world in the form of beer.

Very clearly an attempt to ape Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but not successful. Wort notes add a funkiness to the caramel malt, and the hops have an underlying acrid note in addition to the ample pine. Just stick with SNPA.

Clear deep golden and light copper coloured body with a relatively nice three centimetre tall off-white and almost light brown coloured head - nice and deep. Aroma of yeast, bread, grass, earth, flowers and some caramelised sugars with a tiny bit of hops and associated bitterness noticeable, in the nose, at least. Light to Medium-bodied; Very bready, yeastie and floral flavours show at first, with a slight nutty and earthy pungency and some citrus fruits here as well that seem to show more of a maltiness than any hop notes here - throughout. Aftertaste is very yeastie, bready, dry, grainy and especially caramelly, with some toffee notes, a bit of hay and a strong earthy, rustic and nutty finish that makes this clearly an 'old school' East Coast IPA that would be one that you though of in the Mid 2000s and haven't really thought of too much since then. Overall, reminds me of the older days, and while this really doesn't have any bitterness from the hops, the yeast, malt and caramel notes show some complexity - nice to try given I was on Pawley's Island a week ago, but I wouldn't buy this one again. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Whole Foods in Charleston, South Carolina on 28-December-2021 for US$3,49 sampled at my house here in Washington on 08-January-2022.

Fairly crisp and clear golden and peach coloured body with a relatively thick, three to four centimetre tall off-white head that stays afloat for a while and provides a billowy barrier to the body. Aroma of crisp and very dry hop elements with a very small hit of alpha acids and grasses and a stronger note of flowers, resin and biscuity malts. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong dry and grassy hop flavours show at first with a soft bite of bitterness and a stronger punch of malts that provide a small body for the relatively strong hop flavours that are crisp and drying. Aftertaste show off the hops nicely with a slight grainy bite from the malts and only a tiny bit of citrus fruit note from lemons, with more of a bready and biscuity bite from the yeast and malts. Overall, a decent enough APA that hits the marks nicely for the style while providing some bitterness, a good malt backbone and a touch of body and yeastiness for complexity. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Whole Foods in Charleston, South Carolina, yesterday, on 28-December-2021 for US$2,99 sampled on the streets of Savannah, Georgia on 29-December-2021 with my family.

Sampled from a can this beer poured a hazy bright yellow gold color with a medium sized foamy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was sweet with sugar, mango and a hint of pineapple. The flavor was sweet and tangy with a bit of graininess, some mango and a hint of pineapple. Long finish. Medium body.
