Keg at The Hanging Bat. Pours black with a thin beige head. Aromas of chocolate, treacle, light coffee. Taste is more of the same, with the chocolate dominating. Finishes quite sweet, but good.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Hazy golden body with a thin white head that quickly fades. Steady carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of Digestive biscuit, cardboard, grain and earth. Flavour of lemon, biscuit and cereal. Very dry. Thin body with an oily texture. Light fizz. Not up to the usual St Andrew’s standard - this is dry, musty and dull. This bottle was 7.0% ABV.

Very hazy gold beer, good white head. Palate is airy and dry and crisp. Softish malt and dry seltzer, Whisper of citric hop. Dry finish. It’s okay but falls far short of what you would expect from a 6.5% IPA.

4.8% version. Very hazy amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is airy and minerally crisp. Light dry malt, some rye spice if you look for it. Light marmalade hops. Crisp dry finish brings a carbonated sting and a trace of ester. Drinkable despite a bit dry.

Hazy pale gold beer, tidy white head. Palate is light and minerally crisp. Light thin malt. Light floralness. Mild banana ester, bubblegum too. Smooth finish, little dry. Quite saison like and not much in the way of Nelson Sauvin!
