John Hibbert a.k.a. Ciderman lives at Broughton Bank, just north of Cartmel in southern Cumbria, "Lancashire over the Sands" as it used to be called. This is where he plants, picks and presses apples and pears to make cider and perry. This is certainly not the sweet fizzy stuff you find in normal pubs and supermarkets, it's a very special drink. Pay Ciderman a visit. Follow the signs and have a taste. He thinks you'll be glad you did!

750ml bottle from Broughton Bank Cider cellar. Clear golden colour, afew short-lived bubbles on top and aroma of juicy apple, tart fruity. Taste is tart, apple, fleshy, floral, fruity, some core, and with malic acidity. Medium bodied, low carbonation, dry finish. Nicely drinkable.

750ml bottle from Broughton Bank cellar. Pale yellow gold colour, thin bubbly rim and aroma of perry pear, fleshy, fruity. Taste is sweetish, dessert pear, fleshy, some core, floral notes and light drying acidity. Medium bodied, low carbonation, medium-dry peary finish. Quite drinkable.

750ml bottle from Broughton Bank cellar. Golden colour, some short-lived bubbles on top and aroma of apple, fruity, grassy. Taste is sweet, fruity, apple, sugary, with some fleshy dry acidity. Medium bodied, low carbonation, drying medium sweet fruity finish. Quite drinkable.

750ml bottle from Broughton Bank. Clear bright orangey gold colour, no head and aroma of apple, floral, woody, oak, honey. Taste is sweet and tart, vanilla, oak, apple, coconut, fruity, apricot, with some acidic sourrness and drying tannin. Oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, low carbonation, dry tart sour fruity finish. Quite drinkable.
