brown with red hues, small head fades quickly. smells like a sweet irish cream with coconut. Very thick syrupy mouthfeel, almost no carb, coconut, vanilla, almost a porter flavor with a lot of sweet aftertaste

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 4/2017. Pours slightly hazy medium golden/yellow/light orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lightly tart lemon, lime, strawberry, rhubarb, pear, green apple, white wine, oak, hay, straw, herbal, grass, wheat, and cracker; with light vanilla, pepper, musty/leathery funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, fruit, oak barrel, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart lemon, lime, strawberry, rhubarb, pear, green apple, white wine, oak, hay, straw, herbal, grass, wheat, and cracker; with light vanilla, pepper, musty/leathery funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness and yeast/tannic oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, strawberry, rhubarb, pear, green apple, white wine, oak, hay, straw, herbal, grass, wheat, and cracker; with light vanilla, pepper, musty/leathery funk, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, fruit, oak barrel, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a fantastic malt/tartness balance, and zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from carbonation and acidity/tartness, increasing through the glass. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, moderately acidic/grainy, and lightly tannic balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is an awesome fruited sour ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, fruit, oak barrel, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink; with the mellow acidity/tartness. Awesome balance between fruit, Brett, and Lacto flavors; with great oak presence and nice malt backbone. A highly enjoyable offering.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a semi-cloudy burnt orange paleness. Finger’s worth of white foamy head settles off at a nice pace. Light lace.
The aroma had some soft sweet wheat over some citrus and then some perfumey grassy/hay-like quality about it. Slight leafy/herbal tones underneath.
The flavor leans sweet and then touches down on a light floral to grassy bitterness. Ever so slight tartness. Aftertaste breathes in a nice blend of all of the previously mentioned aromas and flavors. Quick dry floral to sweet and tart finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt good for what the brewer projected.
Overall, nicely done wheat ale done to Vivant’s way of doing things. I would have again if I could get it.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a dark red/brown sort of color with a light tan to off white foamy/semi-fizzy head. Light stringy to bubbly lace.
The aroma had some tropical fruit, some pine, dry funky sort of grassy edge and then gets yeasty as it warms.
The flavor was somewhat sweet with a touch of the bitter, the tart and funky maltiness. Grassy edges come in to bump the balance into a slight earthy malty backbone. Crisp grassy hops and funk hit the aftertaste and ride on into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, leans more towards a Belgian IPA than an IPA, still good for what it is, I wouldn’t mind having again for me.

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was semi-dark brown almost black in color with a finger’s worth of white foamy to fizzy head that quickly dissipated. Lace is barely there.
The aroma had a nice blend of black cherries to a dark chocolate malt. A light sour grape skin trickles out underneath and some signs of grassy hops lay underneath with a settling Belgian yeastiness.
The flavor brings about a nice sweet to sour to tart to semi-bitter tastes flowing into each other with a light Belgian yeasty/breadiness strolling in underneath. Blends right on into the aftertaste and slides into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionable to sipping contour over my tongue. Good carbonation. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, nicely done Belgian dark ale worthy of having again if I could get it.

Treated as a Belgian IPA, this was poured into a tulip, the appearance was a semi-cloudy burnt dark orange almost copper color with a thin white foamy head that quickly dissipated. Touch of stringy sliding lace.
The aroma had a nice blend of green apple skin and it’s flesh with some wood and light vinous notes. Light leather then some earthy to grassy sweet to bitterness. Ever so slight funk at the end.
The flavor yields to the tartness initially and then ends up developing a slight sour to sweet green apple with a leafy/earthy/grassy sweetness, slight bitterness. Aftertaste coats my tastebuds full of green apple skin tart and sweet. Semi-dry cider-like tart vinous finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a sly sessionability about it. Tartness doesn’t distract too much, ends up just sliding on out to fulfill a nice quaint semi-dry woody edge over my tongue. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, all around seemed like everything came through appropriately. Very nice and worthy of having again if I could get it.
