Description
Founded in 1900, Cervezas Ambar is an independent Spanish brewery that maintains the spirit of a constantly evolving family enterprise. With 18 beer varieties, it has more specialities than any other brand. It continues to produce beer at the same brewery where it began operations in the early part of the last century, located in the historic San José neighbourhood. There they maintain the craft processes of the 20th century, with their own malting facility and the only open vat fermentation room still in use anywhere in Spain.

1st Sep 2015: 33cl bottle from my local Aldi, BBD 21 Jan 2017. Poured into a Chimay badged chalice at home. Looked OK, nice clear and clean golden body, on top a thin white sheet that sadly faded to wisp and collar as I wrote this. Corn and grainy nose, crisp refreshing and slightly malty taste with a hint of hop bitterness. Not bad at all, happily drink this on a sunny, beach holiday in Spain.

33cl bottle. clear yellow, small white head sweet malty and flowery aroma. not much hop.s flavor is malty, slightly bitter hoppy, close to the same flavor as the real ambar. Good gluten free macro. The macro hops are delicate and not making it too herbally bitter.

1 litlre bottle from el corte ingles, palma. Acc to ambar website this beer is a seperate one from the others,, only available in 1L bottles, as i understand it. Label is yellow as depicted on the brewery website. clear yellow, large white head. Aroma of malts, macro bitter hops. smells cheap. Flavor is okay, mild sweet malts, but with a pretty herbal and macro hoppy bitter balance to the okay malts. Just below the herbal bitterness is a mild metallic note. I’ve had better spanish macros than this one.
