Description
Founded in 1900, Cervezas Ambar is an independent Spanish brewery that maintains the spirit of a constantly evolving family enterprise. With 18 beer varieties, it has more specialities than any other brand. It continues to produce beer at the same brewery where it began operations in the early part of the last century, located in the historic San José neighbourhood. There they maintain the craft processes of the 20th century, with their own malting facility and the only open vat fermentation room still in use anywhere in Spain.

Pours pale golden with white head. Aroma is higher than usual in pale lagers: iron filings and bread. Soft, very metallic (not a fault, just a flavour). Nice bitter finish.

Light yellow, very cloudy. Thick white head. White fruits (lemon, pear, banana); secondary aromas (bread, breakfast cereals), spices (cumin and coriander seeds, a tinge of spearmint). Very nice on the nose. Fizzy, refreshing, light. Somewhat watery. Short finish with no bitterness at all. Not so nice on the tongue.

330 ml bottle from Seiyu. Pours clear amber, modest foam that is gone in seconds. Aroma of wet cardboard, artificial sweeteners, corn. Taste has a bit of carbonation, balancing malt sweetness. Body is a bit better than many other industrial lages, so not too bad in that front. Actually quite drinkable. Not great but drinkable.

pale golden color. Lightly hopped, refreshing, but mainstream accented. Didn’t know it was an ale.
