Description
Founded in 1900, Cervezas Ambar is an independent Spanish brewery that maintains the spirit of a constantly evolving family enterprise. With 18 beer varieties, it has more specialities than any other brand. It continues to produce beer at the same brewery where it began operations in the early part of the last century, located in the historic San José neighbourhood. There they maintain the craft processes of the 20th century, with their own malting facility and the only open vat fermentation room still in use anywhere in Spain.

330 ml bottle, as Marlen Beer de Luxe, Dortmunder Classic / Maltas Extra Palidos / Cerveza Especial. From Alcampo, Gran Canaria. ABV is 5.8%, Ext. Sec. Prim. 14.2%. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma, some grassy hops, hints of malts and citrus. The flavour is not outstanding in any way, but has enough crisp "freshness" to make the beer drinkable and refreshing.

330 ml bottle, from Alcampo Gran Canaria. ABV is 4.8%. Pale golden colour, pours fizzy with a moderate white head of poor retention. Aroma of grassy hops. The flavour has a moderate malty sweetness and half-decent grassy hops. Drinkable and refreshing, but not much of a "pale ale".

330ml bottle. Clear golden amber colour, foam white head and aroma of grain & hay. Taste is also grain & hay along with some slightly spicy bitterness. Light bodied, well carbonated, dry metallic bitter finish. OK pale lager.

Bottle. A quite clear one, yellow to golden in color, and with a dense, finger thick off-white head. The aroma has touch of pale malts and a faint yeast note, but the fruits dominates. Ripe pears mostly. There’s some bitterness in the flavor, with a fruityness and a faint touch of spices. Medium body, soft carbonation, quite dry. Short fruity finish. Pretty pleasant this one, although a bit uninteresting and ordinary. 131011

Bottled 330ml. -from El Corte Inglés Madrid. Black coloured, medium sized beige head, lactic nose. Roasted malt, slightly smoked, dried fruits and milk chocolate with slight roasty finish. Not bad but pretty one-dimensional.

Ogi’s :D (thanks!). Poured a black-very dark brown body with a medium sized off white head. Creamy, lactic sweetish aroma, raisins. Light roasty taste, slightly watery, light raisins... quite fine for a macro 4.8%... I’d say dunkel, not a Schwarz but hey.

33cl bottle from Alko, Helsinki. Pours pretty close to black, with a beige head. Malty aroma with some roasty notes, caramel and hints of chocolate. Sweet and malty with a slightly dry finish with some bitterness. Fairly well balanced and a lightly bitter aftertaste. Quite ok. (2013-08-17)
