Description
The first written records of the brewery in Černá Hora are dated 1530. In the following centuries the brewery was owned by different aristocratic families. In 1896 an agrarian corporation was founded which operated the brewery till it was nationalized in 1948. In 1996 the brewery becomes private property corporation with the name Pivovar Černá Hora. In 2010 the brewery became the seventh brewery in a row to become a part of the Pivovary Lobkowicz brewery group, the aim of which is to maintain the tradition of brewing good beer in Bohemian and Moravian regional breweries.

Yellow-amber gold; very thick & stable off-white head. Very spicey nose, ginger and bog myrtle, pepper and Paradise seed. Typical gingerbread taste, sweet, extremely spicey (all the above + a dash of allspice). Light to medium bodied. Very caramel-sweet aftertaste, but the ginger keeps ruling. Somehow, this is not quite beer anymore to my taste. I’m not overly fond of this liquid gingercake, and every sip made it more repulsive; couldn’t finish the bottle.

(bottle) Clear golden colour with a thin white layer. Shy sweet malty aroma. Medium sweet malty taste with a rather dry hoppy finish, with a clear but low-key honey note on the palate. Medium bodied and crisp. An enjoyable brew.

An orange beer with a small disappearing white head. The aroma is sweet perfumated with notes of citrus, malt, and cellery. The flavor is sweet malty and perfumated with notes of cellery and a dry end.

Bottle: Golden colour, medium not long lasting white froth, quite fizzy, bitter-malty nose; the beginning and the middle are dominated by malts, the lingering finish ends with bitter-sharp aftertaste and a tinge of sweetness. Good moravian Lager.....!

Bottle: Golden colour, thin, short lasting head; sweetish, slightly malty beginning, malt-accented taste, quite medium bodied, short, spicy and bitter aftertaste with a tinge of sweetness; the honey is extremely well hidden, nearly the same brew as the "Lezak" with a tinge of sweetness, but not , as expected, better rounded. Anyway: a good one.......

An orange beer with a disappearing white head. The aroma is of straw and caramel, while the flavor is sweet with notes of straw as well as hints of metal (is it the hops used?), leading to a hoppy end. The metal notes is a huge drawback.

Clear light orange color, short head. Aroma of ginger, some caramel. Spicy ginger taste. I’m not a big fan of ginger, consequently, i’m not a big fan of this beer...

Slight (cold?) hazy deep gold; snow-white head, fast gone. Cocos, every so slight sourish tinge in the aroma - nothing uplifting. Taste - yes, here’s some honey, as the immediate initial flavour. Then some moments of more bitter, hoppy flavour, ending again dull-sweet. Palate is again more bitterish, but not anywhere noble hops-like. Bit of flavour as "honingbollen" - Belgian anti-cough sweets. Light MF - but also empty. Uninteresting beer, dull. Tastes like many’s the homebrew.

Bottled (BB 12/2004)
Nut brown "oktober-märzen" colour, creamy white head. Aroma of ginger, cinnamon and other spicies. Also flavor has malts and spicies. Oily aftertaste. Interesting beer, similar to Stadin Panimo’s Witches Brew.

Bottle. First impression is that it is a little sweet, but then it goes through an orange juice-like state and finishes off like "normal" beer on a bitter note.
