25 oz bottle. Clean aroma with a hint of corn, a bit of grass, and the promise of hop. Brassy color with a vigorous white head that lasts. Starts medium mouthfeel, smooth, medium carbonation, and decent amount of hop. It’s a pilsener. Better than any number of pissy yellow lagers; not up to Urquell. Nice crisp, bitter finish, so it is up to the style.

On draught, in a hotel near Strančíce, Bohemia:Golden coloured, visible carbonation, mid-sized lacing white head, faint grainy to sweet-malty flavour with illusions of faint hops in the background, delicate bitter-sweet flavour, watery MF, quick light bitter-sweet finish. A bland and boring brew from Slovakia............

Bottled (5.5%). Deep golden colour with small creamy white head. Aroma is mostly malts, hops and some grass. Flavour is the same, with big dryish hoppy finish. Otherwise a rather refreshing Pils.

Green 11.2 oz bottle. These UK states are always shorting me by 8/10 of an ounce! What ever. Nice wrapper on the lid. Pours somewhat like transparent apple cider into my poor steeler stein. Aroma of yeast and a background of skunky vegetableness. Looks like lots of visible carbonation with the initial pour. The flavor is pleasing and has a light astringent bitterness to it. My palate is cool with it’s tingly carbonation on the back of the throat. The finish is very different, it starts off mild and as time goes by it builds to the bitterness of a pilsner. Usually, with most pils style brews, the bitterness fades on the finish, this one builds…interesting. Except for the odd building bitterness on the finish this is an overall decent brew.

(50 cl bottle, thanks oh6gdx!) Light malty grainy scent, some chocolate in the back. Dark red color, brown head. Small mix of chocolate, burnt malt and grains in the taste. Medium a bit spritzy mouthfeel. Low bitterness.

Nothing wrong with this, except possibly too much traveling and too long on the shelf. Reaching bar back into the cooler, I tried to find a bottle with as little exposure to light as possible due to the green bottle. Fortunately this worked, and this beer is still in good condition. Considerable carbonation that explodes to create a thick white head, then setles to a lace on top of the beer. The hop aroma is much lighter than in the best of the style, but not bad, earthy and herbal. The flavor has some sweet malt, lightly hopped but enough to stand out, and a very dry finish. There are far worse out there, and this is surely a pilsner and not a pale lager.

Bottled. Pale golden colour, small white head. Aroma is papery, malty and has some rubbery hints. Flavour is salty hops and rubber. Rubbery plasticpipe aftertaste. Not very pleasant...

Bottled (BB 03/2007). Golden color, small white head. Light hoppy, same tiem sweetish and rubbery aroma. Suprisingly quite hoppy. Carbonated mouthfeel. Some low-alco rubbery, sweet notes. Aftertaste is plastic and slightly hoppy.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a clear, reddish brown with a fizzy head that dissipates in no time. Aroma of sweetish, roasted malt. Medium-bodied completely dominated by sweet, roasted malt and a discreet hoppiness making a nicely harmonious beer. 200806
