Description
Heineken España started its operations in Spain in 1984. In that year the Madrilenian brewery of El Águila, founded in 1900, was acquired. The next year Heineken El Alcázar, founded in 1928, was acquired. As usual by Heineken the brand wasn't brewed for many years, but it was reintroduced in 2019. It is brewed in Jaén. In 2000 the major merger of Heineken España and Cruzcampo took place. Cruzcampo was founded in Seville in 1904 by Roberto and Tomás Osborne Guezala. The brand has 4 breweries in Madrid, Jaén, Valencia and Seville. The latter city has been home to a brand new factory since 2008, which replaces the old 1904 brewery.

Can from Ekoski City, in the city of Bilbao, bought after a morning visit to the Guggenheim. Aroma is lemon and taste is a mix of lemon and beer, with the fruit slightly disguising the fact the beer part has no alcohol involved.

Can, 6.4%. Lagery aroma, bread and metal. Almost clear copper colour. OK stable whitish head. The flavour is caramelly, almost sugary. A little rough bitterrness, but not too bad. Faint metal aftertaste. 535313 / 6 5 5 6 6,5

Tap at the super-small Aunamendia, in mostly locals southern San Sebastian. Golden with a head and a light carbonation. There's no getting away from the fact it has a standard lager taste, but its texture is creamy and smooth, which certainly gives it some character. --- Beer merged from original tick of El Águila Dorada on 26 Dec 2024 at 08:26 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 5. Original review text: Bought in the Basque city of Donostria and drank there too. Clear golden with a head. It's a crisp pilsner although standard with a somewhat creamy taste.
