Hand-pulled half-pint on 13th June 2024 in the Hope & Champion (the Spoons at Beaconsfield Motorway Services) on our way to Heathrow Airport. Pale golden body, mostly clean and clear, white crown. Floral and slightly citrussy in both the aroma and taste, pleasant enough, but far from exciting.

Tap, Teh Red Lion at Gatwick Airport. Clear golden, small white creamy head. Mild biscuity nose, gentle fruity, peachy. Mild bitterness, grassy and gentle herbs. Mild aftertaste. Medium body. A bit flat. Nice.

8/4/2024. Cask at the Red Lion, Gatwick Airport North Terminal. Pours clear pale golden with a small frothy white head. Aroma is peachy, tropical fruits, grapefruit, orange, grass. Medium sweetness and bitterness. Moderate body, average to soft carbonation. Nice drying bitter finish. Also an easy drinker (and it’s now 6:25am).

Moderate sweetness, bitterness and body. Fine carbonation. Drying finish. Easy drinking (just as well, it is 6:15am).

Pours a clear golden colour with a small white head. The aroma is fruit, lemon and light citrus with some eggy notes. A moderately sweet taste, light sweet pale malts, hay, and lemon flavours with a light bitterness.

Hand-pulled half-pint in the William Webb Ellis, Twickenham on 13th January 2024. Pale golden pour, wisp and collar of thin white foam. Citrusy front, but not much going on really, all a bit subtle/bland and uninteresting for me.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading, served a bit cold but in great condition. Deep mahogany with a thin beige-to-tan head. A smokey note up front followed by a hint of mandarin. Chocolate and a light roastiness in the lightly drying finish. The flavours are possibly too subtle - I'd have liked the oranginess to be a bit more prominent, but at least it's not too sweet. It wasn't quite up to the cherry & tonka bean one of the series that I'd had just before, but it was still a great beer and very drinkable. I think I'd like to try more of this series!

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Deep mahogany with a thin beige-to-tan head. Bready up front, both in the taste and - oddly - the texture. Marzipan next - the decent stuff that actually tastes of ground almonds, not that ghastly fake yellow stuff. Hints of cherry, then plain chocolate chips and toasted hazelnut. Basically it's a cherry and chocolate stollen in a glass, and it's rather good apart from that slightly powdery texture. Great stuff, perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and very very drinkable.
