Pours a golden color with a thin white head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing. Malt and mild hops in the nose. Light body with flavors of grainy malt, yeast and slight hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Below average overall.

Bottle. A- Caramel, malty, hops. A- Amber color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Caramel, bready, bitter, cigar smoke. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finsh. O- Not as bitter or nasty as most previous reviews seem to point towards. Yes, it’s bitter, but I think I must have had a bottle with some age on it because a lot of caramel and malty backbone came through. Not bad, but I don’t want another.

This IPA poured a medium, cloudy Amber colour with a big, beautiful cream coloured head. Scents include cream, spice, grass and hay. First swig was a kick in the face with hops. Way too much so. Bitter finish and way too over-hopped.

Pours dark brown / black color with light brown head. Big roasted malt and pine aromas with some chocolate. Burnt malt flavor with pine and chocolate with a slightly ashy finish. 10% ABV is well hidden, never would have guessed it was that high. Much better than the regular version.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Chapel Hill. Clear golden, large foamy white head, decent retention. Aroma of grassy hops, a bit of skunk, grainy malts and bit of doughiness. The taste is doughy malt, grassy hops. Thin bodied. There’s a shell of a good beer here.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a yellow-gold color with a medium sized foamy white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was tangy and sweet with sugar and a hint of fruit. The flavor was sweet, kindly bitter and a bit corny with hints of cardboard, grass and citrus. Medium length finish. Medium body. Blah.

Bottle thanks to Kyle! Pours near black with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has strong roasted malts and bitter chocolate and a growing pine note. Flavor combines bitter dark grains, roasted malts and bitter pine well.
