Aroma: The nose has some citrus fruit hops, caramel, herbal notes, and a little soap
Appearance: It pours a clear orange color with a light foam of white head and sporadic lace
Flavor: Tastes lightly sweet with a lingering mid-plus bitterness and like the nose a bit of soap
Palate: The body is medium, with a decent amount of warming alcohol, and a lengthy, dry finish
Overall Impression: This one wasn't a great IIPA. There were the makings of a decent beer here, but there wasn't enough of a flavorful hop punch. Instead, I got a dry, but lacking, bitterness and a little bit of soap. At 10%, with some heat, it isn't particularly drinkable either. For me, this is not close to the top of a great style.

Overall Impression: Mostly clear darker golden color with a thin off white head. Grapefruit, caramel, bread, spice, booze, and pine. Overly boozy considering the ABV. Out of balance. Some mid-2000s to it. Didn't work for me.

Bottle from Liz. Pours light orange amber with a few white bubbles. Aroma is a little caramel and some citrus. Near med body. Flavor is sort of a little caramel and some citrus. Not getting any flavor extremes here.

Draught. Amber and bright with a big but loose head. Lightly citrusy aroma, mostly just some dull hops though. Earthy and a little bit ashy, again quite hoppy but not too bright. The malts are just slightly syrupy. The problem is that this beer is in many places in Miami the only IPA on tap and it is just far too big for that. They need a sessionable version.

Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 02/02/2012. This beer pours a slightly cloudy yellow color with a thin white head that burns away quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Citrus and grainy malt in the nose. Light body with flavors of lemon and lime, malt and spice. The finish is sweet and citrusy with a grainy aftertaste. Average overall.

Bottle from Liz. Pours light copper with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is light on hop, has some caramel, and the alcohol tickles the nose. Med + body. The heat is noticeable. The caramel is the main flavor. Seems to be a touch of diacetyl. It’s somewhat bitter, but I can’t pick out a hop type. Alcohol gets in the way. I’m going to have to vote for primarily floral hop with a little light stone fruit. It is intense in it’s funny little way.

Bottle from Liz. Pours dishwater gold with no real head. Lime is in the aroma. Near med body. Clean, spicy, citrusy. Not sure where the lime went. Certainly fits the style.

Flavor is light and arbuably clean, but crisp? How can it be a pils without hop? Arguably it’s lightly bitter, but perhaps only because there’s not much flavor at all.

Slightly hazy honey golden coloured body with a bit of a bright orange glow and a very thin off-white head. Aroma of alcohol, flowers, honeysuckle, a touch of hops and a bunch of malt. Full-bodied; Pungent malt backbone with a little bit of hops, a lot of yeast complexity and some assertive floral and grassy notes. Aftertaste shows a lot of alcohol, some spice characteristics, a bit more yeast and a lot of grassyness - not so much of the hops, however. Overall, not a good beer, but not really a bad one - just a lot of alcohol, not hoppy at all, and the grassiness is a bit overdone. More of a failed belgian ale than an imperial ipa, but not a drain pour by any means. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 20-July-2011 sampled at home in Washington on 21-November-2011.
