Slightly hazy honey golden coloured body with a bit of a bright orange glow and a very thin off-white head. Aroma of alcohol, flowers, honeysuckle, a touch of hops and a bunch of malt. Full-bodied; Pungent malt backbone with a little bit of hops, a lot of yeast complexity and some assertive floral and grassy notes. Aftertaste shows a lot of alcohol, some spice characteristics, a bit more yeast and a lot of grassyness - not so much of the hops, however. Overall, not a good beer, but not really a bad one - just a lot of alcohol, not hoppy at all, and the grassiness is a bit overdone. More of a failed belgian ale than an imperial ipa, but not a drain pour by any means. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 20-July-2011 sampled at home in Washington on 21-November-2011.

12oz bottle. Unfiltered orange-tan, respectable off-white head. Alcohol-tinged citrus aroma...spiked grapefruit juice. A big, bold IIPA..rather straightforward, in a good way. Bright hoppy citrus tastes dominate. Some orange-liqueur tastes going on. I sort of enjoy the malt being on the lighter side, which seems to accentuate the stylistic differences between it and a Barleywine. Not quite World Class, but a a pretty solid example of the style.

This beer pours a clear copper-gold color with a medium thin light beige head that dissipates slowly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet malt and floral hops. Light body with flavors of bready malt, grassy hops and a touch of yeast. The finish is mildly hoppy and short. Pretty average overall.

12 oz bottle given to me by Suttree. Pour is a mostly clear orange golden, with a smallish off white head. Aroma is sweet booze, phenols, cloying honey and a sort of off floral note. Weird and cloying nose. Taste is resin bitter, followed by artificial honey sweetness that cloys, finishing with a blast of dry alcohol heat. Finish is hot and grassy. Palate is medium bodied, coats the mouth, and then the alcohol dries it all out. This had some of the harshness of a malt liquor. The bottle cap on this was the highlight, nice design. Thanks Phil.

12oz bottle. Hazy yellow-tan with a thin white head. Lemon-lime aroma, quite nice for the style. This is pretty much what all the macro lime beers would love to capture, a really sessionable beer with a faint lime signature. Zesty and quite fresh, this is very refreshing, though it does have a slightly artificial feel to it. Mellow medium body, this is a great Summer session beer.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Cloudy yellow-orange with a small white head. Wheaty aroma with citrus and coriander. Sweetish-spicy flavor with citrus fruits and a spicier drier finish. Light to medium-bodied. OK.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Slightly hazy orange-amber color with a white head. Grapefruity hops aroma with piney notes and somewhat biscuity and caramelly malt notes. Flavor has some sweetish malt, and moderately bitter piney and citric hops. Medium-bodied. Decent.

Bottle at home in NH, shared with Dad. Pours clear, very pale with a light, fizzy head. Apple juice nose. Mild sweet flavor, faint dryness, bit of apples and mild dankness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mild dry finish. Just sweet enough with a decent apple character.

Bottle. Pours an amber with small frothy off white head leaving spotty lacing along the glass. The aroma is a bready malt and wheat. Sweet raisin malt and grain and a bit watery. Not much going on with this one.

On tap at Three Broomsticks. Pours a cloudy copper with a small frothy white head with good sticky lacing. The aroma is a bready malt and raisin. Medium mouthfeel with a smokey malt and a little metallic on the finish. A decent scottish ale.
