Cask (gravity) @ NBF 2017 [ The 42th. Nottingham Beer Festival (The 10th Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival) ], Nottingham Castle, Friar Lane, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England NG1 6EB. [ As Brolly C.O.W. ].Murky matt light yellow colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, wheat - oat, sweet malt, dough. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, fruity, citrus, dough, wheat - oat - yeast. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20171011] 5-2-5-3-8

Cask at Pig’s Ear 2017. It pours deep brown – black with a small beige head. The aroma is soft, earthy roasted malts, umami character, charred wood, liquorice and ash. The taste is dry, pretty bitter, earthy, charred wood, umami, liquorice, peppery spice, leather, roasted malt and a touch of dark fruit. Medium body and fine carbonation. Decent enough stuff.

Cask at Pigs’ Ear 2017. It pours clear brown with a medium bubbly white head. The aroma is earthy, wood, leather, dried twiggy stuff, varnish and a touch of caramel. The taste is dry, bitter, wood, leather, varnish, resin, oiliness, caramel/toffee, brown bead and fruit cake. Medium body, fine carbonation and oily mouth – feel. A fairly chewy brown beer. Ok I suppose.

Cask at Pig's Ear '17,day one, 05/12/17. Light black with a decent tan head. Nose is chocolate dipped raisins, roast malt, toffee fudge. Taste comprises liqourice, spice, chocolate biscuit, raisins, dried fruits, light roast. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying close. Ok stout but lacks a touch of depth given the 6% ABV.

Cask at Pig's Ear '17,day one, 05/12/17. Rich golden copper with a decent off white head. Nose is sweet fruit, caramel, straw, grains. Taste comprises buttery notes, biscuit, light orange rasp, floral notes, vanilla. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. So so ... too buttery.

[ As Brolly Aurora Brollyalis ].
ABV: 6.0%. Dark brown colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy and open, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, dark malt. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light light acidic with a long duration, dark malt, chocolate, tart sour notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20171205]

Cask at Pigs Ear 2017 - Hackney. Pours deep brown with a frothy, tan head. Soft roast in the nose, with touches of chocolate. Light sweet flavour with nips of baking cocoa, some earthy bitterness, surrounding roasted malts. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation; decent condition. Dry and bitter on the finish, with notes of coffee, ashy roast. OK overall.

ABV: 3.8%. Unclear medium red brown colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy and open, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, nutty. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration, sweet malt, caramel, nutty, sugary. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20171014]
