On tap at Roses by the Stairs, pours a mostly clear bright golden with a small white head. Aroma is very strange -- like scorched, sweaty hops -- this can't be right, can it? Flavour is abrasive, with big bitter pine cones, some sweatiness, and earthiness. Hmm, this isn't working for me. Maybe it was in better shape a while ago? But since it's their house beer, I suppose this is what's intended. Just not enjoying the rather rough hop expression so much.

On tap at Roses by the Stairs, pours a clear bronze with a small white head. Aroma is dominated by the spicy rye, followed by plenty of piney hops. Flavour has a unique hop expression: quite lemony, somewhat melony, also piney and tangy. The rye complements this nicely, though the rye seems like punchy than the aroma suggested. Very good.

On tap at Roses by the Stairs, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma reveals bitter citrus, farmhouse notes, and a touch of floral notes. Flavour is definitely on the bitter side, with citrusy pine cones, farmhouse notes, and a touch of earth. Pretty good use of the yeast, hopped aggressively. Very dry finish, quite bitter finish. Good stuff -- definitely a cut above the standard, clumsy North American saison.

On tap at Roses by the Stairs, pours a deep dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma is full of roasted pumpkins, brown sugar, and mixed pumpkin spices that are not too abrasive or out of step. Flavour is quite roasty, with an almost burnt pumpkin character that goes well with the spices. Finishes dry, burnt, roasty and moderately spicy. Not bad for the style -- I appreciate the use of actual pumpkins as opposed to just pumpkin spices.

On tap at Roses by the Stairs, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is fairly subtle, with gentle grassiness, a touch of citrusy hop tang, and crackery malt. Flavour reveals the NZ hops more, with tangy citrusy hops, some grass, and crisp crackery malt. Clean, well-hopped, and crispy. Very good.

On tap at Kings Beer & Wine, pours black with a small tan head. Nose is full of cinnamon and spicy chilis, with a touch of cocoa further back. Flavour is quite spicy, with cinnamon, very spicy chilis, and cocoa. The beer is well-structed, but it's just got too much spice for me. Decent.

Panda thanks to Ibrew2or3: Poured a dark bark brown with a huge creamy frothy light brown head. Aroma is smokey, meaty, bacon, woodsy, maple. Taste is burnt woods, ashy, smokey, roasted malts, light meaty, maple, coffee.

Gold, bright, not much head. Full malt, medium bitterness, grassy hop, light pine, very new world but really one of the better new world type pilsners I'�ve had in a while.

Dark brown, thin head. Some sweet malt, brown sugar, a bit of smoke, on the palate it has a lot of hop, chocolate, big bitterness but also vanilla and maple sweetness.
