Cask at the Bree Louise. Pours clear gold with a faint, white head. Aroma has some toasty malts and hints of citrusy hops. Flavor has alright sweetness and straw bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finish continues in a similar fashion: bit of straw and toasted malts. Nothing wrong here.

(Cask at Castle, Chancery Lane, London, 18 May 2011) Copper colour with brief, off-white head. Malty nose with toast, citrus, apricots and grainy malt. Malty taste with notes of toast, biscuity malt and a light citrussy bitterness in the finish. Rather light body, fairly dry. Decent.

Bottle from the Vale Brewery Shop, Brill, Buckinghamshire, (Barry purchased this) consumed at Isobel’s (Loz’s mums) 20.05.11 This was better than expected, in fact not too bad at all (not usually a fan of Milestone in bottles) Touch smokey, some coffee, warming, with a little chocolate also. Very tasty. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Cloudy amber beer. Slightly dry and crisp palate. Reasonable carbonation. Says it’s a barleywine but really comes accross as a sour beer and a decent one at that! Good sourish malt that tickles the tastebuds without ever approaching lambic like acid. A little sweet malt at the end. Dry sour aftertaste.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW. Nice garnet pour with a filmy, bye-bye head. Dark fruits and mild mocha on the nose. Lightly sweet, lightly roasty, some dried, dark fruits, hints of coffee and cocoa. Light in body with fine carbonation. Dry, fairly roasty finish, lighter fruits now, some dry wood. Decent brew.

Cask. Sweet liquorice aroma. Almost black colour, red shine. The flavour starts off with hard roasted malt, but also has a little sweetness and cream. Well-balanced.

Half, gravicask at Bree Louise. Deep, amber coloured body. No head. Aroma of semi sweet malts. Dusty hops and sweet, grainy malts in a fine balanced flavour. Rounded bitterness to the ending. Pleasant (London, 20.03.2011).

Gravity cask at the Bree Louise. Ruby-gold pour with a light film. Good hops, some toasty biscuit. Mild caramel flavor, light earth. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Mild sticky finish, some sugars. Good balance, though with a slight medicinal note. Pretty good stuff overall.

50cl bottle from the Home Brew Shop, Aldershot. Pitch black with a ruby glow and a tight beige head; earthy malt aroma; rich malty flavours - some purple fruit, smoke and a touch of coffee; and a pleasant dry finish that’s lightly lactic.
