Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Amber with a tight cream head; grainy aroma; smooth with a grainy flavour and a touch of bread dough; the finish is lacking, itโs try with a hint of cardboard. Drinkable, but not worth a second glance.

Cask handpull at Pembury Tavern. Deep chestnut. Lasting grey beige head. Dry malt aroma. Decent premium best bitter with decent dry brown malts. Tasty enough and pretty drinkable

Gravity cask at the Bree Louise. Pours a dark, clear garnet with a slight film. Aroma holds some ripened, mildly tart fruits and lightly toasted malts. Flavor is light to medium sweet with fruity, sour malts and some mild, leafy bitterness. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Finishes tart with some mild caramel and ripe cherries or prunes or something. Not exactly my thing.

Cask at the Harp. Pours brown with a subtle, tan head. Aroma has some decent roasted malts and faint mocha. Nice flavor, some soft, brown sugar, baking cocoa, burnt wood, light leafy bitters. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Finish has slight sugars, mild roast and coffee. Its alright overall, just not too exciting.

Cask handpull at Market Porter. Thanks to Chriso for purchasing. Clear deep chestnut colour with thin beige head. OK dark premium bitter. Not great but not awful either. Does what you would expect. Some ok dry malt on the flavour and on the finish.

Cask handpull at Market Porter. Its a simple but tasty roasty porter. A little thin in body but drinkable enough. Roast and toasty. Some milk choc. Ok.

Gravity cask at the Bree Louise. Dark brown-black pour with pretty much no head. Lots of tobacco and mild roasted malts in the aroma. Flavor is lightly sweet with distinctly hard, mineral malts, charcoal and dry, woody roast. Medium in body with soft carbonation. Some slight sugars in the finish with lingering ashes and tobacco. Pretty nice beer.

Cask (handpump) @ The Riverside, 1 Mowbray Street, Neepsend, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England S3 8EN.Clear medium orange to yellow color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, fruity, light to moderate hoppy, light yeasty, earthy notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, earthy fruit. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat to soft. [20100427]
