Hand pulled half pint at the Bird in Hand, Stafford on 1st August 2026. Black bodied, tanned topping. Peaty, burnt aroma and taste, singed feel to it really, so toasted malts and fairly bitter. I suspect it's been on a bit too long (Martinsh had it a week ago in the same pub).

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours almost black with minimal tan head. Chocolate to the fore in the aroma plus roasted malts and lactose. Quite sweet in the mouth. Flavour is a mix of roasted malts, lactose, molasses, honeycomb and chocolate wth hints of dark frits later on leading to a slightly fruity finish. This is decent if not exactly memorable.

Deep amber with a small bubbly white head and a mellow caramel malt and hop aroma. Light bodied with just a touch of creaminess, caramel malt, floral hops and a dry bitter finish.

Gravity cask at GBBF Winter, Rotherham. Feb 2025. Described as a winter ale. Pours amber cream to beige foam. Aroma and taste: light to moderate sweet and bitter, malty, wood, nuts, butterscotch along with subtle seasonal spices. Incredibly thin body.

Cask at the Queens Head, Stourbridge. Pours bright gold with a small head. Aroma is soapy, eggy ginger and lemon. Taste has straw to start with a yeasty lemon finish and a touch of soapy ginger on the aftertaste.

Handpull cask from the Salmon, Leicester. Mid- to dark gold and clear with a film of white head. Greywater and glue aroma. Improved taste, bittersweet with intense medicinal notes near the finish. This was a bit of a struggle to be honest.

Shared third of a pint at the 31st Shrewsbury Beer Festival in St Mary's Church on 28th September 2023. Nice looking beer, chestnut red body, clean and clear, beige head. Strong malty front with caramel sweetness tempered by some decent hop action.
