Description
Shiny was established in 2012, as a small scale operation, brewing in Derby mainly for its brew pub. Now based in the beautiful village of Little Eaton, just outside of Derby. The brewery is based in the centre of the village and has a taproom which features all Shiny’s new beers and one off pilots. Our beer story began with untraditional highly hopped cask beer and now has evolved into brewing a range of cask, keg and cans, the ethos is still the same brew beers we love to drink which means lots of hops! All beers are unfined and a good number of our core range is certified Gluten Free.

Draught keg at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Light to mid-gold, very hazy. Light aroma of pink grapefruit and lemon zest. Taste is much more complex with a malt-caressed vanilla sweetness and light hoppy biteback on the back of the tongue. Medium to heavy carbonation. Very nice.

Draught keg at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Bluish purplish brown and hazy with a massive purple/white head. I'm getting plum, baked bready notes from the nose as one would expect. Sweet/sour taste, a little metallic, more fruit here. I feel like it's got all the ingredients here but they are not really gelling. Lightish body with medium carbonation. A rare meh from Shiny.

Cask at the Hop Inn, Swindon, 04/04/2025.
Hazed orange golden topped with an off white cap that thins to a swirl.
Nose is orange zest, melon, papaya, mandarin.
Taste comprises soft malts, faint soapy notes, melon, grass.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close splashed with mellow hop bitterness.
Okay pale ... soapy edge knocks this down.

I visited the National Glass Centre as my cultural activity in Sunderland before my regular cultural activity kicked in. Glass has never been so interesting to me at this point. Very important of course as the substance currently holds this beer I'm rating! Crisp citrus tropical fruit and pine notes with some dryness and a noticeable carbonation.
