Description
Shiny was established in 2012, as a small scale operation, brewing in Derby mainly for its brew pub. Now based in the beautiful village of Little Eaton, just outside of Derby. The brewery is based in the centre of the village and has a taproom which features all Shiny’s new beers and one off pilots. Our beer story began with untraditional highly hopped cask beer and now has evolved into brewing a range of cask, keg and cans, the ethos is still the same brew beers we love to drink which means lots of hops! All beers are unfined and a good number of our core range is certified Gluten Free.

Keg at the Colmore, Bingohame, 27/02/2025.
Black with a thin tan head that clears to a swirl.
Nose is light smoke, treacle toffee, dried red berries, chocolate shavings.
Taste comprises dried fruit rinds, charr, lactic pinch, cocoa powder, light smoke, an almost peated note about it.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a light rising boost.
Passable sipper ... for £7 a third this really lacks depth and barrel profile.

Gravity cask at The Boiler Room, Leamington Spa, 08/02/2025.
Hazed orange topped with an off white head that thins to a swirl.
Nose is freshly squeezed orange, grass, melon, papaya.
Taste comprises papaya, melon, hint of soap, orange peel.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying close splashed with mellow hop btitterness.
Okay cask pale ... the light soapy edge knocks this one down a few points for me.

Handpull cask at the Ribs of Beef, Norwich. Mid-brown and translucent with an uneven ring of beige head. Sweet chocolate fudge aroma. Sweet taste, lots of chocolate throughout, and just enough bitterness at the end to remind you that you are drinking a beer. Yeah, I'm fond of this.

Draught keg at the Real Ale Classroom, Leicester city centre. Mid-gold and hazy with a quickly dissipating white head. Big sweaty apricot, vanilla aroma. Big apricot taste. Cracking malt notes, a sweetness that gives way to hite grapefruit bitterness. Medium thickness to the body with decent but not overly invasive carbonation. Excellent.

Hand-pulled half-pint in the Blue Boar, Leicester mid-afternoon on 21st January 2025. Light golden body, slight haze, white head. Just a little more malty than hop bitter, semi-sweet with a mild citrus leaning, body feel is fairly thin.

440ml can in the Wheeltapper, Loughborough on 20th January 2025, my 'Night Cap'. Murky Damson red, wispy pink head. Vanilla sweetness verses semi-sour Damsons with crumble to the side. Interesting and different, Good Night!
